Hello

The other threads for Stagecoach South Wales seems to be closed

Does anyone know what's going on with Aberdare Depot?

Noticed today Merthyr are tracking on service 9 and Porth on 61 and 172

Has Aberdare closed its doors?

Looking on the map on bustimes (which I usually take with a pinch of salt) that Scania 28737 has moved to Merthyr

Whilst everything else bar Streetlites and a couple of solos and E200's still at aberdare

rest seems to have been sent to Porth this morning

The 2 sprinters I guess being used as driver shuttles as they been in front of a convoy of buses each time I looked on the bustimes map

Does anyone know what's going on?

Apparently closing yes and moving stock to Porth/Merthyr. Sad state of affairs I am afraid!
I presume Merthyr have only gained the 9 and 89? With porth operating the rest

Or are Merthyr doing the town work

Only buses tracking in aberdare now are Streetlites rest of fleet are in Porth bar one Scania and I think one ex Manchester E200

As of today Aberdare becomes an outstation of Porth, with around 8 PVR remaining. Services have moved to a mix of Merthyr, Porth and Taffs Well. I believe the 172 returns to Porth, some 60/61 and Pontypridd locals move to Taffs Well with the 9 etc. moving to Merthyr.

I'm suprised the Aberdare locals didn't go to Merthyr if I'm honest surly be closer than porth

What routes bar the 9 gave Merthyr got?

I thought 60/61 was Porth as they did it today

Looks like late 9/11/113 are Merthyr not sure about daytime ones

So far (info via bustimes data and the duty boards on each vehicle)

1/2 Aberdare Circular - no tracking so unclear which depot

8 is still Aberdare (AB** Boards)
9 daytime is Aberdare (AB** boards)
9 Eve after 1830 and all Sun is Merthyr MT** boards)

11 daytime is Aberdare (AB** boards)
11 Evening after 1800 is Merthyr (MT** boards)

14 daytime is Aberdare (AB** boards)

25 is Porth (PO** Boards)

60 is Porth (PO** Boards)
61 is Porth (PO** Boards) and one board seems to be Caerphilly (CY** board)

Sunday 89 unsure but presume Merthyr with them running the 9 on Sundays

91 is Porth (PO** Boards)

95 is unknown presume still Aberdare

113 daytime is Aberdare (AB** boards)
113 evening after 1800 is Merthyr (MT ** boards)

103/4/6 all now Porth (PO** boards)

172 Porth (PO** boards)

It also looks like all 13 Streetlites remain in Aberdare (however not sure if some are due to move)

I hope that with these changes, Stagecoach sort out some of the network. The 172 should be split again as then the 6 (old number for the Merthyr to Aberdare section on the 172) would make much more sense in Merthyr as part of their mass interworking scheme and no one really travels through on the 172.

I'd like to hope too that Stagecoach get themselves together and capitalise on the dead mileage trips here as they are losing so much Bus Network Grant money running dead. Plenty of opportunities to improve links now across the region and convert lots of these dead miles to live miles.

The latest I have is that 43001 to 43103 inclusive are now the allocated to Aberdare in its outstation format.

Only a handful of working, maybe two on the 61 went to Taffs Well and the Pontypridd locals went to Porth. That supports the running board observations you note above.

I'm suprised Merthyr didn't get the 9 to be honest
