Been informed today and this has also been reported on the stagecoach south wales newsletter, published on the welsh bus new yahoo group that stagecoach south wales are to get:

11 VDL, Van Hool double deck coaches for megabus work with the current single deck volvo coaches going to Rugby.

7 Scannia (Enviro 300) low floor single deckers to replace the current Volvo B10m's (Alexander PS) which operate service 172 Aberdare - Tonypandy - Bridgend - Porthcawl (1 of the most scenic bus routes in wales I think) - I would highly reconmend viewing ths site which has plenty of info on the route and other stagecoach south wales routes, vehicles etc.

Yes

These are the last step entrance vehicles (apart from coaches & school buses/staff vehicles) in the stagecoach south wales fleet.

I assume that the R--DHB examples replaced will be cascaded down so the N and P reg B10Ms go first...

The 1st of the new double deck coaches has arrived in the past day or 2.

Drivers are being trained on them so it is unlikely that I will be getting 1 on the 07:45 Cardiff - London megabus service on thursday when I go to London for the day after finding some very cheap coach tickets.

1 of my freinds is coming along and we planning on doing the District line service to Olympia before the new timetable comes into effect as well as the fast of peak MET services.

The megabus routes from Cardiff/Cwmbran/Newport are proving to be very popular with the current vehicles unable to cope so theses have been brought in to provide extra capacity.

1 reason for this is that they are so frequent and much better value than the trains. I purchase a single for 2 people on thursday to London for just £16.00 when on the train it is at least £25 for 1 person with a railcard discount.

These new double decker coaches are slightly lower height than those on the Oxford Tube and Other megabus routes to Glasgow etc because of clearance issues particulary west of Swansea.

Anway due back into Cardiff at 00:05 on friday morning before getting the 01:16 train from Cardiff to Bridgend where I will wait til 06:07 for the Milford Haven train to take me back to Pyle

Any idea if there's a fequency upgrade or new route in the offing?

Reason I ask is 11 Astromegas are due, to replace 6 B12Bs and possibly 1 B13R.

I think that there will be a frequency upgrade but won't happen til about march.

I know the London - South wales route is to get at least 2 more trips per day with 1 extra on service M35 to Manchester/Sunderland
