Two buses and van crash on main Carlisle road

A bus crash brought part of Carlisle city centre to a standstill during the rush hour this morning.

A Stagecoach bus was involved in a smash with a van outside the Vue cinema, in Botchergate, at about 8.30am.

A second Stagecoach bus is then thought to have swerved to avoid the vehicles and ploughed into a bus stop.

Police and ambulance crews were sent to the scene, but early reports suggested that there were no serious injuries.

A police spokeswoman said some passengers had been left shaken by the incident.

Officers closed the road, one of the main routes into the city centre, and diverted traffic down Crown Street while the scene was cleared.

The road was reopened by police shortly afterwards and traffic was flowing freely by mid-morning.

Two Darts and delivery truck involved in accident in Carlisle this morming according to evening paper, I saw 34691 being towed away with badly damaged front end but I didn't see the second vehicle so don't know how much damage was caused to it are which one it was.

The Dart that went into the Van was operating service 61. From the photo I have seen one of the Darts have pretty major front damage with the roof torn off at the front, the doprs pushed inside the bus and the front a write off basically.

Looks like 20977 could be staying around a wee bit longer now.

Got some quite old programming on it that thing. Drivers have spent ages looking for "Whitehaven 600" on it. They end up just shoving it on "Cockermouth 600" with there being nothing else to set it as.

Volvo B10M on service 80 again today. All Darts accounted for and a B10M was on the 93 tonight. Thats what they get for putting 47721 on the 67!

Solo on 80 would have been interesting! Would manage it fine, but I'd imagine passengers up there would probably find it a little strange bus enthusiasts up there would enjoy it though!

In Carlisle today there was a B10M on the 67/68, Olympian on the 76 & B10M on the long 685. Im sure there were more oddities about but I had work unfortuantly.

33161/33162/34214 all on the pit and 47722 was also being worked on.

A 685 Coach and 79/179 Enviro also on the pit.

52416 (R116 OPS) was in the yard from Western. No idea if this was a breakdown or not.

52414 is all scrubbed down ready for the paint shop.

20966 is parked inside the depot. 20965 is still parked outside while 20908/9 have vanished along with 20896/20979. Wouldnt suprise me if 908/909 were back in service today with the huge shortages.

The only Dart with accident damage that I could see was 34709 and from what could be seen it only had reard damage and certainly not that bad. No sign of any others with damage so they must be hiding somewhere.

47760 is being scrubbed down ready for painting. 47758 is in Stagecoach colours looking smart with 47755.

A bus (Irvings of Dalston) carrying children home from school was blown off the road in high winds near Carlisle this afternoon.
- Driver and one child received minor injuries.

GOOD the way it should be, didn't suit it haha! Route branding for 84 perhaps, or maybe join 25226 in Stagecoach only livery, as it is the only Preston Citi Versa suppose.
Interesting though.... *as the West Cumbrian's among the forum lift an eyebrow*

Heard the inspector on the phone to the depot about an Olys ticket module. Was very slow to sign on, and when asked for a consessionary fare, reeled off 15 black tickets! Oly was on Prestons, so a Scania missing somewhere.

Saw 25226 on 89 today as well and noted the lack of branding, I hadn't noticed before lol.
