Shame I never travelled on one, looked like tanks lol.

They ended up going to PVS I think before all 3 were sold to Northern Blue, my mate actually went and picked one of them up when he worked there, were very popular buses there. Seem to remember that B900 WRN was also in the yard when he came to collect one of the Javelins.

I was one of the drivers that went to pick them up at Hilton Park services. We took down three Leopards in exchange [I know who came off best!!] whilst three Hampshire Bus drivers brought the Javelins up
http://album4103.fotopic.net/p348274.html

They were for use at Garstang when we started operating the 85 service from Blackpool to Knott End after Blackpool depot closed. They were certainly fiery beasts and great to drive. Occasionally they would appear on 42's and those of you that know Singleton Crossroads coming out of Blackpool - Javelin on inside lane, car on outside lane, who should be turning right ; car really wants to go straight on and thinks it can beat the Javelin before the traffic island ; traffic lights change, car looses and is then stuck in the middle of the junction. Always made my day, that!!!

900 [B900WRN] was the spare vehicle. We always had three of these four vehicles at the depot for almost 3 years.

Gosh, a right blast from the past there themaster985, I agree.

I was too young at the time to properly remember it, but I have hazy memories lol

I will be sampling the 300 service either Thursday, Friday or Saturday and photographing in Workington & Whitehaven. I wonder if I should wait until 17017 comes along. Then again, by the sound of it, I might have a long wait!!

Enjoy your 300 ride!
300 to Carlisle was the only service I noted running late this afternoon, with the 1435 departing at 1442. Some 30/31's were running slightly early, short 300 running to timetable (must have been flying down the hills. It was crawling past Wetherspoons in 1st, where the Scania's have gone into 4th going to Whitehaven). All town services were running to time as well.

Might possibly see you around. I'm in Carlisle thursday afternoon (got an exam in the morning). Friday and Saturday should be in Workington. Won't be out both days though, due to having assignments.

sounding like a loud JCB, smelling very oily, and not moving as well as it used to.

16652, 20945 and 35247 on 30/31.
16447 and 20962 flying around not in service.

Any bets on how long it will last this time? I give it a month till it has another major failure lol.

The last time I took a ride on the 300, it was being operated by Bristrol VRT's from FAO ---V, & KRM ---W batches.

47616 on Lowca 1
35247 on Greenbank/Kells 2
47617 on Mirehouse 3
47061 on Mirehouse 4
B10M on 31A -forgot which one!

47006 on Moorclose 51
47007 on Moorclose 50
47024 and 20910 on Seaton
Only had time to see 34218 on Harrington
52628, 14257, 16652 on the annex

All Scania's were running this morning, although at 1145 15683 came into Workington running dead from Whitehaven with Whitehaven on displays. It then sat on the annex, (then my bus turned up), but the Scania was apparently going to run dead to Maryport around 1200 for some reason.

17017 was my bus to Whitehaven on the short 300 and I like a lot! Didn't get a ride on it before it broke down, but I rather enjoyed the ride today. Crawls up steadily in first gear out of Workington and Whitehaven but superb on the flats! 3 speed gearbox lets it down though - young driver was on so was running ahead of time ;) Engine rather warm and smelling of oil still but plodding along rather nicely (for now!).

Well, here I am in Carlisle for 4 days. Just had a quick walk into town earlier and I actually saw 2 passengers get on a Reays at The Courts - then 1 got off!!! Never really noticed passengers on the few others I saw either.

Not sure what was happening on the A6 between Penrith & Carlisle. It was shut northbound from Bowscar Roundabout so I had to take a long detour in the car to come back out at Plumpton [very icy side roads along which there had been a 4 car collision with one on its side]. Then it was shut again, this time in both directions, just after Low Hesket. Another detour via Aiketgate and Cotehill. Don't know which way the 104 was running. Anyone know what the problems were?

Think I will sample the 300 tomorrow, probably at 0910 from Carlisle

"BBC Travel says: A6 Cumbria - A6 closed and queueing traffic in both directions between Wreay and Low Hesket, because of an accident involving two vehicles earlier on. Police directing traffic."
- not really helpful! Looks to be a cold one tonight!

The Scania E400's on the 300 are not all the hype their built up to be really.... Great looking buses and very smooth on the flats, but don't count on them arriving on time!

RAC just say its due to the earlier accidents involving two vehicles.

Might bump into you briefly then. That will be the one I'll be getting off in Carlisle before my exam, if I get the bus through again.

104's were a bit messed up this morning. 24122 came in, with 24124 approx. 10 minutes behind it. 24122 was replaced on there by 24123 this afternoon.

Reays new 64A service is being operated by ex Plaxton Demonstrator YX10 ECY (now in full Reays livery with branding) and "brand new" YX60 DWP. Considering this is a bus service passengers have supposedly requested, I saw quite a few of them running totally empty.....
The 63/63A and 64 were all back to their usual passenger numbers of less than 5, with Stagecoach Citi Darts running at around 50% capacity (just a rough guess to be honest, judging by how many people looked to be on there.)
Must also be noted that Reays have slashed the price of their Daily Hopper ticket to £2.60, the same as Stagecoach Carlisle Citi Day Rider!

Both 52626 and 52627 on 685's.
52629 was on short 685's for a bit. 52629 is now the "odd" Jonck from the S-KRM batch, as it is the only one with a drivers assault screen fitted!
Then I got back to Workington, to see 52628 on the annexe! All 4 S-KRM Jonck's in the same day!

20944 on 79/179.
A 62 branded Citi Dart on 69.
34048 was out on a Citi services, later seen in the workshops.
33076 on a 104 to Penrith this morning.
20977 on 554.
34214 on Citi 67/68.

52409 in dead lanes at Carlisle depot. 20979 there as well, with other withdrawn vehicles.
14202 sat outside the big shed with "SCHOOL SERVICE" and "91" on roller blinds. Appears to still be in use.
52408 sat outside the bus wash.

18361 went back to Morecambe this morning, with its very shiny new paint job.
A totally unbranded 47493 arrived from Preston for repaint (previously Wallace & Gromit vinyled).
34694 appeared to be having its gearbox seen to. A van was outside the workshop bay it was in, with Allison Transmission stickers on the sides of it.

At abt 18.36, whislt waiting to depart with the 18.38 departure to Cork Road, the duty Bus Station inspector came upto me and informed me that Common Garden Street had been closed due to a bus breaking-down.

When I got upto Dalton Square, I could see that 14208 had brokedown in the narrow bit, where Common Garden Street crosses over Penny Street.

How unfortunate!!! Wonder what's up with it!

That solo doesn't look like it needs paint in that picture! I wonder if they will finish painting all the MANs!

Not sure how long it has been out of its all over vinyl, but they tend to give them a repaint, to remove any leftover adhesive that could just pull paint off anyways if removed. Think it had that vinyl on for around 2 years or something (?)
