The X61 is moving from Preston to Chorley depot. hence the refurb olypians. I think the Blackpool end coming of the route so willl just be Preston-Manchester with Driver change at Chorley.

To prevent these rumours spreading I can say that the Preston - Blackpool section will remain though we still have to work out a route to keep it under 50km between Chorley and Blackpool.
X61 will move from Preston in its entirety and be operated from Chorley commencing in the new year, the FULL route will be operated from Chorley with a driver change also being carried out at Chorley on each run, we will also be adjusting the times slightly and stopping places as per customer requests, the jonks will be removed and replaced with refurbished Volvo Olympians sourced from northwest....vehicles are yet to be confirmed.

4 fully refurbed long wheelbase R reg ones at Lillyhall (16651/2/3/4), plus short wheelbase N reg 16733 which is being refurbed. 16651/2/3/4 tacho'd, and mechanically the same as Chorley's current Volvo Oly's. 16654 only just fully refurbed a few months ago.
5 fully refurbed short wheelbase N reg ones at Barrow (16332, 16334, 16335, 16339 and 16340). 16332/4/5/9 tacho'd. all Cummins engined, so slightly different mechanically to Chorley's current ones.

I think it's unlikely that an N reg will go to Chorley simply because at some point it'll have to go on schools, which GMPTE won't like.
I think there'll be some shuffling (possibly at Preston?) to release an R reg to Chorley.

the only refurbed Oly at Preston with high back seats is 16331. it's fully refurbed high back seat ones supposedly going over.
if 4 N reg's went from Barrow, they'd end up on X61 almost all of the time, not on school work.
20945 on Seaton. didn't see other bus.
47062 on Moorclose 50.
a KX51 running 10 mins late on Moorclose 51.
34079 short 300.
14234 done 1225 48, it then went up to Lillyhall. 22 on the side Vultron.
14258 flying around not in service, mainly circling the bus station. the display is a bit broke. it has a load of random letters where it should say "Not in" on the Sorry, Not In Service.
20919 sat in the middle of the bus station not in service. again, it has been circling the bus station, so buses could get in and out.
it looked like 20901 on 30 and 31, but not too sure. it was definately a non-repainted R reg with no side display (so it leaves 20901 and 20903. 20903 supposedly withdrawn now, so that cuts it down to 20901).

Ohhh very good! I agree that it is most likely the 4 R reg's from LL that will go to Chorley and who knows, they may just get another Oly without high back seats in to act as a spare. There are also a lot of high backed seats lying around at varies depots around the region so they may stick some of them in an Oly and send it on.
I wonder what will happen to the Joncks and the interurban!

22821 is back from repaint with 17022 going the other way and 16185 has had an engine fitted and is been driven round the yard for coolant checks.

Would be good to have some more Olys in to replace Leylands, hope they do some work on them inside and out if we do get some!
Barrow would be a good place for 17019 or 17022 to make X35 fully low floor!
I'm guessing 16185 will go to Preston so they can get rid of the F reg Leylands they have down there, have they even seen service?

If I read that correctly, new vehicles will be leased not bought.
This is to stop ex-London cast offs being sent to the rest of the UK (eg the 17xxx Tridents)
London requires different spec vehicles that aren't suited to the "native" operations.

Thats what I thought, bit of a shame but makes sense. I assume however that the current older vehicles will be up for cascade?
Stagecoach will own the current fleet, so yes the older vehicles will be cascaded.
Will be interesting to see how quickly stuff starts moving.

Traffic was brought to a standstill in Carlisle today after a crash involving a lorry and a car at Stanwix Bank.
A motorist had to be cut free from the Suzuki he was driving following the collision, near the junction with Brampton Road, at 10.20am.
Northbound traffic lights were left severely damaged by the smash but police said early indications suggested there were no serious injuries.
Three people were in the Suzuki. The driver of the wagon was said to be uninjured.
Motorists reported gridlock around nearby Hardwicke Circus as the impact of the collision had a knock-on effect on late morning traffic.

From the brief look I've just had at the fleetlist they still have some V and X reg Tridents around that are on disposal but these may just be sold on or indeed if they are cascaded they could go on MB services somewhere. Although their age makes the undesirable the vehicle spec may compensate for this, for example the whole fleet (apart from the routemasters) have electric ramps like the 170** Tridents here in the NW.
Also West Ham have a lot of artics which I assume will just be sold on as I'm not sure whether SC will be keen on moving them elsewhere. On the other hand they may be of some use in terms of P&R schemes etc. As I understand it there a very large numbers of artics from all companies sat in storage down there and have been there for a long while rotting away waiting to be dealt with.

That answers the question I was going to ask. I wasn't intending to stay in Carlisle for long today, but the chaos kept me there.
15683 arrived in Carlisle at 1225, a mere 25 minutes late! Numerous short workings, especially on 61 and 67/68, and Reays services were all over the place.

20909 and 20994 on 600
16397 was on the morning 554 and then went onto 66s, with 20451 taking the midday 554

20907 on 66s then 93
20924 was on 67/68 before taking on a 38 to Silloth
33161 did a turn on 61 to Morton Park and back and then changed to a 67 at West Tower Street!
