To clarify - it was certainly PX07 registered, but it was travelling fairly quickly at the time so I didn't catch the rest - ?ZZ I think. Also it sounded completely different to the Mercedes engined Solos which are standard in Barrow.

PX07GZZ is the number plate of 47474 and it does have a unique engine sound! more like a lawnmower  ...sounds possible so  face

I think its arrival has been caused by the fact that the Millom services became low floor on the 29th August. Certainly after this date the 709ds with the new displays cropped up on town centre services. This is quite a rare occurrence. I reckon that after losing so many buses, and not getting any new ones the operations manager at BA could probably have made a fairly good case for getting 47474 to keep his town centre services running with all low-floor buses.

Sounds about right. Glad its in service anyway, better then it sitting around!

But surely that's balanced out by the loss of CCC contracted routes at Barrow, leading to a PVR drop!

before service changes, Barrow had 5 spare Solo's allocated.
4 709D contracts lost, so 4 of the 7 709D's withdrawn.
Millom Town services gone low floor, meaning 4 spare Solo's left, and another 709D gone.
revised X7 (operating as 7) using a Solo as well, so 3 spare Solo's.
2 709D's retained for 512 and 513.

if the above is correct, then Barrow should have 3 spare minibuses before 47474, compared to the 2 spares Lillyhall have (including 34079, which is dead for the 2nd time within a month).
the only thing that could be stopping BA's solo's all being around, is down to some still waiting for repaint. quite a few have been done, but there's still a few to process. one or 2 could be off for that

I followed 25232 into the Bus Station at 18.35, which took the last available stand on the southbound side. I had to wait yet again for a stand to become free, as they was a bus already on my stand.

Seen buses going round several times till a space became free. Usually on the Southbound side around 6pm when a load of stuff terminates at the bus station!

Quick work on 25224!

With the recent re-timing of some services (ie 40's & 41's), this as caused one or two problems during the day.

20910 looked to have been on 600.

Yes it was on the 10.40 out of Carlisle with noisy belts

If there is any, then I can't even begin to imagine what it might be!! Looks fairly bad for LL when the lack of low floors features in the local press. Watch out for an even larger shortage next week...

Not even featuring in the local press seems to have helped at all then. Reallocating 47474 is just stupid, words fail me!
What, even more of a shortage??? D: <(

20962 sat on annexe with Moorclose Circular 50 on displays.
20473 done 1125 48. has an interesting sound to it that it didn't previously have! it has the DH10A sound, with a mixture of the THD sound popping through every now and then!
