Welcome j@r I think, from what I have been told, that Reays are biting off more then they can chew and are expanding to quickly, so we will see how they handle all this extra work.

Also whats going on with 20127?

they seem to be doing ok i dont know what else they are doing but there sellafield shuttle busses are nice i use them alot. the driver said they are expanding in carlisle as well and maybe west cumbria

Stagecoach have plenty of spare buses though. At the minute, so do Reays. Until schools start back next month If a SC SL bus fails, then there are plenty of spares, either from the depot or then annex. A Reays coach would have to travel from Wigton. His Egremont depot isn't really large enough to house the amount of vehicles which he has licensed for there, never mind spares :roll:

Reays have bitten off more than they can chew, especially with the new mystery service in Carlisle. Stagecoach FTW!

17017 will take a step entrance decker off 30/31. Just have to see if anything comes our way, which is rather doubtful.

Western still have 709d's in service but I'm not sure about the south of England.

Stagecoach Devon was repainting their remian 709D's in the spring. As far as i know there are still in every day use on services around Torquay & Paignton.

I expect all the Leylands to go along with some/all of the R--NBV Olympians

Don't forget that Stagecoach was hoping to withdraw all the remaining Leylands back in April & May, but due to chassis corrosion on the Volvos, their withdrawal have been delayed!!

The 3 B10M's school runners at Kendal are to remain.

SC may pull something out of the hat and still replace all Leylands by the end of the year. With all these service changes I think we'll see the number of Leylands in the NW significantly reduced.

The thing about the Merc's, the urban and rural mini-bus type of a generation, is that even though they've covered a lot of road they're tough and reliable.
There is a technique to piloting them that once mastered makes them a breeze to drive.
When you consider that just about every new driver (myself included) has ham-fisted his or her way around that engine and gear-box during their fledgling career days, it's a testament to the type that any survive at all!

Believe nothing until it actually happens, there are alot of rumours going around, I know they are starting services in Carlisle against Stagecoach, but I don't think they are going to start here, not yet anyway.



The old Merc's were great fun to drive when they were running right, but they were a pain in the backside when the clutches were on their way out, they nearly shook everyone to death when you were pulling out of a junction!!
As you say, once mastered they were very easy to drive, and alot easier to maneuver around certain routes, the number 1 being prime example!



The new Scania's? 1st September all being well.



I have a feeling 17017 will be out in service next week.

Yeah it had a new engine and a new back end obviously seeing as its old one was totally demolished lol. Only S reg we have with LED back lights as well for the same reason.

AH thats why it has LED lights wondered that for a long time because it was around the same time when it had new seats and LED destination display i thought it was to make it look similer to the 2005 tridents

No just because the back end was mashed up. Would have been nice to have them all done, but no real reason for it. They did it with one of the OT S reg's as well that Kl have after it had an engine fire, can't remeber which one now.

Also has it been mentioned on here that 14193 is listed as an F reg on the fleet card but is in fact a H reg?

No particular reason really, just what was to had I expect.


TBH, there's not much point in rear displays - if you can see it, you've missed the bus!

I think rear displays are convenient but not a necessity. Its good for us spotters because you can see what service a vehicle is on and if you are running toward a group of buses at the bus station for instance you can see which bus is yours and run for it, rather then having to run round the front or side to check its destination.

Also I have a query. Sources in Chesterfield have been led to believe that they are receiving Scanias 15688-96 a total of 9. If this is true where on earth is 15687 going? On the online fleetlist it is shown as going to the Northwest. I always assumed this was a mistake...

If its going to anywhere in the NW, which I think it isn't, it could go to LL as a spare. As it is I think Chesterfield will receive 10 scans not 9 numbered 15687-96.Just thought I'd post it to see if anyone knew anything about it.

the OT Tridents didn't get a rear LED cos they only work 1 route. its either 599 or nothing, so doesn't really make it worthwhile fitting an expensive rear LED display.

Makes you think if the 17xxx`s had stayed at ME would they have still have rollers in them?, as soon they got ready to be transfered out to other depots they fitted them with L.E.D blinds so quick.
