A few sightings from a brief trip into Carlisle today:

One amendment to my earlier post: 16355 was the Olympian I saw on schools, not 16335. I wish I could read my own writing.

17019 was on the 3 this evening showing "University S/W Campus" on the blinds. Deckers don't usually show this, they just show "University".

Just a quick note about E400's from another forum:

50 for Cambridgeshire, 21 for South, 12 for
Oxford, and 3 for East.
I believe delivery of them should be completed by the early part of
April. (The Group financial year ends at the end of April)

That makes 86 in my head. Have no idea what these will cascade but my guess would be Olys and Tridents from these areas Or of course Leylands in places.

Just a quick note about E400's from another forum:

My contacts in the south, tell me that Stagecoach South have 15585-15605, with 15585-15587 being 59-reg'd, whilst 15588-15605 are 10-reg'd & brand for Coastliner 700.

Also that Stagecoach Oxford have 15609-15620 which are 10-reg'd.

No idea about 15606-15608, but could be the three for Stagecoach East.

They look good! I think the Tridents that previously operated on the route have moved within the region to displace Olys but stand to be corrected

All the blinds now have uni S/W on the MANs they scroll to Uni on top then bottom scroll between S/W campes the via Greaves Road

Wide range of vehicles going through Garstang on 40/41/42 over past 2 days inc Volvo Oly's, S Reg Tridnets, 2005 Tridents, B10's and MAN Sgl deckers. Then we have just had 16877? going through on a 42. Is there no set "rule" over which buses to use on servcies, there is no consistency at all - very frustrating for wheelchair users trying to get out and about on the buses.

I think the general rule is that S reg Tridents are marked for the 40/41 but not so much for the 42. However S reg's often end up on the 2/2a which means Olys or 2005 Tridents end up on it. Then of course as you mentioned the MANS often run some journeys. With the 42 it depends what services it runs before. For example 16877 was on the 55 this morning and then ran the 42. The ones I've seen over the past few days have been S reg Tridents or MANS. I can't remember the last time I spotted an Oly on the 40/41. But I don't see these services as often as others.

Today continued:

22721, 22821/24 on 2/2a along with 16666. 22824 is running around with window boards.
20131/33 on X1

18325 failed again this morning this time in the underpass at about 12.50. It was sat at the East side with its hazards on, blinds showing out of service.

I have to say, that over the last few weeks, i have not only been looking at the buses out and about, but Listening to them too....

And i have to note:

16652: Screeching it's nuts off after a driver fired it up on the annexe;
20768: Wailing noises getting ever louder (one wishes they would put it's Tacho & LED into 20777!!! );
47062, 47005/6/7: all making rather loud grindning and squealing noises once in 2nd gear;
35249: Engine not sounding as smooth as the other four SPD's (34616 actually sounds the healthiest of the lot!!!);
42xxx: All, Well, sound like a can of nails! 'Nuff Said, but will hopefully go soon!!

BUT...

BUT...

This one passed me heading both to and from the bridge the other day on 30/31's, and between EVERY gear change, was making a very high pitched wail/scream... this is only a two year old bus, and it cannot be simply a "characteristic" of the gearbox, as i've never heard any of the other MAN's make the same noise!

22600 was pulled off service when it developed a few weeks ago, yet, its out and about, sounding worse everytime i see (well, hear) it!!! on saturday, it struggled up the little hill from police station to M&S!!! E300's usually fly up that!

52627 on 685, still with its dodgey suspension! up and down like a bloody yo-yo when standing!!!
42672 on 71 and 101.
20907 on 66 then 680.
14232 was in bus station with 66 on display.
14202 used as staff shuttle before schools.
42577 was flying around, but not sure what on.
Connections to Carlisle branded 24122 on 79.

42090 in back corner of CE depot, minus its ticket machine!
14206 was also in the back corner.
14247 and 33162 were sat outside the workshops.
ex Magic Bus NC Oly that was rubbed down and sitting in front of big shed has moved. i'd guess it is in the paintshop.
21007 has moved from back corner. not sure where to!

20777 was on the annexe around 20 past 5, along with another B10M (can't remember which!).
47023 is the 3rd bus on Harrington and 101. as usual, driver was changing the display whilst driving!

No set rule at all it just depends on what I fancy sending out as the mood takes me. (which lately hasn't been a good one)

But seriously though, Blackpool is not a designated low floor service, but one duty is booked for an MAN, which today would have been 22818, however we had two am peak hour breakdowns and something had to give, this happened to be the 0825 Combermere Rd. The driver was sent through to me and as I has 22818 sitting at the bus station and the 3 / 4 service are Low Floor quality partnership service it get priority on buses, so using that left me with nothing at the time for the 0947 service. 14195 rolled in after working the 46X, so that was going to be used, but at 0940 16877 turned up and think that passengers would prefer that to a freezing cold. rather smelley bus (14195).
All a wheelchair passenger has to do is ring Morecambe Depot and they will be more than happy to tell them what is on what as I do most days for a couiple of the lads that travel distance in chairs

Right I see! Sorry I assumed that because S reg Tridents appear on the 40/41 quite a lot I assumed they were ear marked for these services Technically as we all know their not great for the long hall routes because of the gear box!

So, 21007 is getting painted. Wonder if it will get an LED as per 21003/4.
Are the other B10B's still at ME?

Thanks, the photo of 47247 at Kirkby Lonsdale is a bit special as it was my last trip back into Lancaster on the 81A, after that I did an 80 to Ingleton and back then called it a day.

it is currently sat on the annexe, and you can clearly see where the school bus sign was on rear end.

just had a little drive around, and up past the depot, and saw a very shiny 52628 parked up outside the bus wash.
33167 is on Harrington & 101 as well as 33169 and 34079.
20952 and 20759 on annexe. 20779 has disappeared.

mix Tweety Pie with a KX51 and thats what it was like!!!
as for 20779, it looks rather sh*t now its lost its school bus signs! its full of marks where the sign was on the back end. all the holes are still there. i would have stopped off for a pic, but by the time i got back down to the bus station, it had gone

I'm currently watching the heat-wrenching sight of 14253 sitting broken in the Layby outside.

**update**

Fitters arrived at 1635 and fired 14253 up. It started after a while. They then did load tests on it and shut it down again.

1644: The engine bay door has just been closed and both the Oly and fitters van have left rather gingerly....I reckon they've patched it up well enough to get back to Kendal.

The University are closing the Underpass between April and September to give it a full face lift including a lift up to Alexander Square. The Square itself is also having major work done. Its about time they finely did something about it all! The underpass is awful lol.

Anyway, other observations from today:
Travellers Choice have their first 10 plate in the form of (what looks like) a B12B/VDL Jonckherre.

Stagecoach are having a crackdown on school passes being used in areas where they aren't valid (we had an inspector all the way to Carnforth on the 1520)

We used to have inspectors on quite a lot back when I was at school. Most people who weren't meant to be on the bus got away with it because someone else passed a pass down as the inspector was looking the other way. They then of course got ratted out by prefects lol

Also saw Paul today on the 4 working with 22813
