unless they havn't put it in the timetable to annoy me, cos they know it annoys me when low floors are always on non-advertised routes, with step entrances on advertised routes, like today! 2 Vario's on Harrington!

When i was on my first break (1027-1127), at about 1055 a number of passengers started complaining about the non-operation of 1040 89 Knott End service. One of the inspectors on duty (Frank Smith), telephone Preston to try to find out what had happened to it, just to be told that the bus was in a ditch, as it had left the road!!!!!

Now hopefully, i got a nice long weekend off. So that i can enjoy Christmas.

I also would like to wish all members a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Merry Christmas to all the idiots on here who have nothing better to do than talk about buses

free bus travel for the people of Workington and surrounding area tomorrow, provided by Workington Transport Heritage Trust. one of the buses will be running Barkers Footbridge - Workington Bus Station - Moorclose - Salterbeck - Harrington, and another will be on the other side of the river running Barkers Footbridge - Seaton - Flimby - Maryport.
the vehicle on the southern side (Barkers Footbridge - Harrington) will be ex Cumberland Bristol VRT 431 (PHH 149W, later Stagecoach 15731), and the bus on the north side (Barkers Footbridge - Maryport) will be either ex Cumberland Leyland National Mk2 378 (KHH 378W) or Lillyhall built Leyland National Mk1 WHH 556S (most recently in use as a school bus with JB Pickthall). no doubt i will be around getting pictures of them!

there has been a slight change of plan to the Free Boxing Day services in Workington now. ex Stagecoach Bristol VRT 15731 is no where to be seen (forgot to ask why it wasn't around), but ex Cumberland Motor Services KHH 378W is on Barkers Footbridge - Harrington, whilst ex JB Pickthall Workington Built Leyland National WHH 556S is on Barkers Footbridge - Maryport. pictures of these will be on my flickr as soon as i can get them on!
its nice to see some proper buses flying around again! (even though WHH 556S now has a DAF engine instead of its original engine!)

Enjoyed a trip to Maryport on WHH556S this afternoon at 3:30, took me back a bit to my youth, only trouble is the Daf motor dosent have quite the same tone as the original engines, but had a bloody great heater lol

How did that not get replaced? Its a Sunday service so ALL the 2a buses should be low floor they must have had something spare. All the 40/41's I saw today were Tridents!

47247 came into the bus station at 2.13 today on the 81a. After a brief discussion between the driver and his replacement driver and then a phone call 47247 was taken around to the north bound side of the station and put out of service. We then all got directed to 20544 which ran the 81B back to Kirkby instead.

29th December:

Had a trip to Preston today and obviously had a little gander and the bus operations. Two 56 reg E400's on the X2
Versa's and Esteems on the 3
Three Park & Ride Optares (47704/06/07) bunched together.
Two MANS on the 40/41.

we wern't too far apart! i was in Blackpool area most of the day with forum member rosswatson!

ex PB 28514 was on 68, along with the Tridents. some carry 68 branding, others are just Stagecoach in Lancashire.
84 branded Optare Solo's 47489 on 84 with 84 branded Versa's.
84 branded Optare Solo 47488 on 76.
(i didn't know that these 2 solo's were branded up for 84!)
47482 and 47486 on 74. 47482 is still unbranded.
47474 was sat in Fleetwood Outstation.

Preston's Interurban went flying past me in Blackpool.

an R reg Volvo Oly with LED and retrim on 42, as well as previously mentioned 20544.


20765 and 53337 on X5.
47617 was sitting on annexe when we got back from Blackpool area.
22600 went towards train station showing "Workington" instead of "Workington Rail Station".

The clue is in the question University to Combermere and then Bus Station to Combermere, stuff was running that late I slipped a couple of trips in myself to get stuff back on time, B10M was what I had spare, no good having a Trident parked up if I loose a Ridge, or as it happens a K. Lonsdale which lead nto next bit 47247 suffered damage to offside cab window courtesy of a white van man, and wasn't really fit to carry on so teh B10M was called into play

Interesting that about 47488 being on the 76, only because i saw it along with 47001 on the 89's yesterday afternoon.

The 18.38 8c & 18.40 89 departed from stands 2 & 3, (instead of stands 6 & 7) due to the other stands all be full with out of services buses!!!!!!!

I can always tell when Gez is not on Duty. The drivers and other inspectors could not care less, if indending passengers miss their buses due them going of the wrong stands.
