I said it would be available online soon didn't I :)

This will see the current Scania fleet from CY move to PR, although exact fleet numbers are TBC as some may move elsewhere within M & SL.

Fleet numbers of the new vehicles have already been allocated but not for Public domain yet.

I would imagine Stuart would have them noted in the new BBP book

Off Wikipedia (not the greatest of sources, admittedly)
24 ADL Enviro 400 Scania's for Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire (Chorley Depot)"

Interesting to learn that all 24 of the Scania E400s at Chorley are on the move (I assume this is the case since 24 new ones are due). Would have thought the two 62 plate examples would hang around for a while longer as spares for the 125.

Their appearance at Preston should hopefully mean an end to the use of Tridents on the X2. I wait with interest to see what routes they end up on.

As most readers of this thread, will already know there are rumours going around the Lancaster & Morecambe area, regarding not one, but two other bus companies moving into the area.

I for one, sincerely hope that there is some truth in these rumours. Living in Carnforth like I do, we may finally get a decent reliable bus service. On Saturday 18th April, my wife and myself left the house at 12.32, in order to catch the 12.40 bus to Morecambe, as there was people already waiting at the bus stop, we knew that the had not gone early (it's not uncommon for them to depart upto 5-mins early), as the bus had not shown-up by 1pm, we went back home. As we did not see or hear any buses go pass that afternoon, I then posted this:-

Are Stagecoach (Morecambe depot) on strike today ?

It was reported in the trade press, a couple of months ago, that one of the companies concern, as being interested in moving into the area.

And which two companies might that be? I'm certainly not aware of anything in that regard....

The rumours concerning “operator A” started when “operator A” was in negotiations with local “operator X”, as the 68-year old owner of “operator X”, wished to retire. However, local “operator X” sold-out to local “operator Y” This was reported both in the trade press and local newspapers.

The owner of “operator A” said in the trade press, despite losing out on buying local “operator X” that he was still looking for a suitable site, to establish a depot in the Lancaster area.

As for “operator B” I am unsure how this rumour started. The only thing I can think of is, that as “operator B” has recently taken delivery of 40 new Wright buses, which have entered the mainland UK via Heysham, and have been seen travelling between Heysham and the M6 via Morecambe Road, which is the most direct route, until the new road opens.

There are also rumours regarding the possible depot sites, including the former Bargh depot on A683 at Caton, which has just recently received planning permission for the construction of 139 houses. So that one rumour, which can be disregarded, However, the one regarding Heysham, can’t be so easily disregarded. As the council as received a planning application from a team of Solicitors based in the Midlands, for a Transport depot, including Workshops, fitters rest room, drivers rest room and offices. This could easily be either a Bus or Wagon depot.

It like everything else, it a case of wait and see, what if anything happens.

So operator A - Reays....who couldn't make Carlisle work so have even less chance in Lancaster.

Can only guess that operator B is Arriva, which would make no sense at all. Lancaster/Cumbria is not good operating territory; there are much better areas to try first.

I find it hard to believe that other operators are wanting to move into the area, knowing how many services have been lost due to withdrawal of County Council subsidies.

If I recall, in 1999, Arriva actually left the area. MTL owned Heysham travel, and when Arriva bought MTL, they sold Heysham travel to Stagecoach.

I not heard anything about Arriva, unless you heard something that I haven't....

Correct.

There was an agreement were by if Arriva left the area, then Stagecoach wouldn't move into Liverpool......

As we all know Stagecoach didn't stick to this.

Totally incorrect, WHen Arriva bought MTL which included Heysham Travel, they approached Stagecoach to buy Heysham Travel, simply because it a tiny low cost operation, totally outside any of their their operating areas. There was no agreement that Stagecoach would leave the Liverpool area alone.

Why would any company agree to ignore a huge, potentially profitable operational area, simply to buy a small low cost contract company? Arriva offloaded Haysham Travel for operational reasons and Stagecoach were able to acces a number LCC school bus contracts. No more, no less.

Another reason why that claim of an agreement is incorrect is that the MMC investigation into Arriva's acquisition of MTL required the offloading of Gilmoss depot. Stagecoach was one of the bidders, though their identity was kept secret. They didn't get it initially, but ended up buying GTL in 2005.

Out of interest, and slightly off topic, when Stagecoach bought Heysham travel from Arriva, how many vehicles were included in the deal, and I would hazard a guess that none of the vehicles gained Arriva fleetnames or livery before the sale to Stagecoach?

No you are totally wrong ARN556B.

Arriva sold Heysham Travel to Stagecoach in 1999, which formed part of the agreement.

Stagecoach moved into Liverpool in 2005, So therefor breaking the agreement.

I don't think they did get fleetnames. I think it was just a few Natiional 2s that operated for Stagecoach- although I think most of them had local-ish regitrations so they weren't as easy to spot- and some some Metroriders.

I don't dispute your dates, but there was no agreement that by purchasing Heysham Travel, Stagecoach would avoid Liverpool and Arriva would avoid North Lancashire. Where do you get your information?

I'll repeat what was said above, Stagecoach were one of the bidders for Gilmoss in 2000. So, how could there have been such an agreement if Stagecoach were to then do that?

Not only that, if Stagecoach had broken any "agreement", why didn't Arriva launch retaliatory attacks in Lancaster, Preston, Fylde, Chorley......?
