They were being looked after by them for a short time, as were a number for East Kent, when Upton Park, where they were stored was sold. 17489, 490 and 495 are to be assessed and of found suitably will be converted to open top for Cumbria

Since when have full height vehicles, not been able to fit in the underpass?

Ribbles 1437-1446 (LHG 437-446T) which were 14'8" were regularly used on the 471 & 472 University services.

Since a height restriction of 4.35m / 14' 3" was placed on it, after it was resurfaced a couple of years ago.

Network Rail have also placed lower height signs on a number of bridges. Arriva down south had to use stop using deckers on one route when this happened. Even though the buses still fit, they cannot now legally operate under it.

Oh dear, why does this always happen when a double decker bus works a rail replacement service where they have to go under a railway bridge?

Oh, and being full-height London spec, they won't fit in the underpass at the University.

Does that mean that the BWC S-Reg Tridents aren't as high, even though they were new to London?

They should do, the S-BWC`s go on the short 3`s now and again.

The S-BWCs are lower, yes. Although new to London, part of the contract with TfL was that they'd be as provincial as possible to help cascading.


Suspe 47143 is for repaint.

I think 1 of the reserve S-BWC Tridents from Gillmoss should go to Rock Ferry to cover this Low Bridge thing, it would make perfect sense to me

22144 S144 TRJ has gone back into Reserve at Hyde Road after spending around a month on loan to Middleton, The only S-TRJ i know what still gets service in Greater Manchester is 22151 S151 TRJ at Hyde Road but that is also showing up as in Reserve.

Still with Middleton Depot and 22189 T189 MVM Was withdrawn this Evening as it caught fire on Moston Lane.

Despite having an Engine Fault (even noted on the Fleetcard) Stagecoach Gillmoss sent out 17019 S819 BWC on the 917 Soccer Service, Very slow pulling off and top speed was 25mph, shame as apart from that it was a good Bus. Its the first time this Bus has been used in a number of months tho.

This heap of junk was driving like that four years ago when it was at Chorley. I used to dread it being allocated to me for the 125.

Gillmoss have 2 S-BWC Tridents in Reserve 17018 (that sometimes gets out on Schools) and then you got 17019, As far as am aware this is the first time its seen use at Gillmoss so i assume it was last used on Chorley Schools back in July.

It does appear Gillmoss are suffering from a Fleet Shortage at the moment as 2 917 Dutys where operated by MAN Enviros (normally all dutys are Deckers) things only got worse for Gillmoss yesterday when 34820 failed on the 53 in Queen Square (the drop of point).

Not sure what you mean by spec - they're standard 10.9m E400MMCs with H45/32F seating.

Something I've been wondering since First got E400s which are a bit higher - why did Stagecoach Manchester go for the lower height version?

The standard Stagecoach policy is to buy the regional version - you never know where things will end up after their initial lives, and many areas have low bridges (c.f Lancaster) which create problems.

Ah, that makes sense - though I know Lancaster and most of the bridges there are unsuitable for any deckers at all - though I recall the university underpass isn't quite full height.

Am informed at all the remaining T-MVMs at Middleton Depot will drop into Reserve from Jan 25th due to a PVR drop, am also told that 2 X-BNE MANs from Wigan are going to be displaced but not sure where their going to.
