Spotted two E400's heading south on the Motorway between Carnforth and Lancaster at 18.55, then at 19.46 spotted PX12 DMF on the A683.

From 3rd June Stagecoach takes over operation of the evening and sunday services on Preston Bus routes 14 and 29A, though Rotala retains the daytime workings.

So that means it should just be DNJ/N/O/U/V to come, unless I have missed one.

It might have been DNF that you saw the other night kendalking as it turned up sometime during the day in the yard, DNJ turned up just after 8pm leaving just DNN,DNO,DNU and DNV to come.
Also the guys that deliver the buses brought down an hybrid E400(9495) for london as a shuttle bus.
Also note the PX12s have the similar last 3 letters to the E300s at ME, and 21005 is back on the fleet to cover for a solo that is doing glasson dock shuttles and bare lane shuttles when bare lane rail crossing is shut for a few weeks.

Also, changes are due to the 4 & 4A from 25th June. Although extending the 4A through to Whychnor is good I suppose, extending it through to Woodplumpton would be better. Woodplumpton could be served by the 4A, allowing the 4 to turn left at Broughton cross roads then straight down the A6 via RPH. Certainly would be used more by people from Longridge.

It also appears that the new 5A evening link from Longridge-Clitheroe direct is being operated by stagecoach, inter worked with the 4, with it doing a local Clitheroe service whilst on layover. From what I can gather the daytime Longridge-Clitheroe will still be operated by Holmeswood Coaches?
Is a change of vehicle on the 4 4A and 5A due with the narrow streets of Chipping now not being served?

unusual allocation spotted in Penrith
16337 was on the 106 this afternoon normally always a B10m, didn't think a decker would fit along some of those roads.. funny at a time when carlisle and penrith seem to be struggling with deckers.

16338 was on market bus, presuming that means 17017 is still out of action

20473 on X4

also not stagecoach related but being Ambleside based might interest a few of you http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Charabanc...ses_Coaches&hash=item25706bc7f1#ht_980wt_1270 if I had the money I'd snap it up!!

17017 will probably be a while yet. Looked like it had no engine or gearbox in it when I went past the depot start of this week. 4th engine blowout in the 20 months its been in Cumbria, probably about 9 of those 20 months off the road.

I dread to think how much money has been thrown at this thing. Clearly some drastic changes need to be made to it (gearbox) or it needs to be sent somewhere flat with less demanding routes.

I seriously think now is the time Carlisle should try and get another 55 reg trident from somewhere, the ammount of time and money that they've put into keeping 17017 running just isnt really working out and I can't see these problems clearing up anytime soon, anyone think this could be an option?

It would be perfectly fine for use on TfGM schools....a 55 reg Trident from Morecambe to Carlisle, with 17017 going to Chorley.

It could be an option yes. With ME getting 23 new decks this year some 2005 Tridents could come out. Of course there is a possibility that CE could get one or more but then BA could do with one, LL I'm sure will want one or more, CY may be after a couple so we'll see what happens. Last I heard ME were pushing to get rid of their S reg Tridents which would obviously have similar problems to 17017 if ever transferred to Cumbria.

The simple fact is that routes in Cumbria are hugely demanding and a lot of vehicles, not just 17017, struggle to cope.

It will be interesting to see if Cumbria manage to secure new vehicles this year. I believe there will be a 'second round' on the current order as SC stated in their press release that more orders for vehicles would be announced later in the year.

As well as this Reays seems to be stepping up their game in the Lakes with OT routes and directly competing with the X4/5. Competition, if serious, can have a positive effect in that SC may decide to invest to compete.

It also must be remembered that post Olympics there is likely to be a huge reshuffle group wide and this may have a positive effect on Cumbria and North Lancs. Just some thoughts anyway:D

well I hope Stagecoach do the sensible thing and pinch some 2005 tridents.

strange thing is 17012-17016 which are all OT converted and used on the 599, none of them have ever had the same problems as 17017 to my knowledge? I think reays are doing a clever thing by competing with X4/X5 because we really need more buses between Penrith and Keswick does anyone know when the R50 will be beginning?

Compare the 599 to the routes 17017 runs/has run and you'll see why. Also the OTs are only used in summer, so not worked all year around.

I suspect Kendal's are still under a 1 year guarantee. I wonder if this is in light of the problems that Chorley's 15567 suffered.
