Seem to be alot of B10s being repainted, i wonder if 20794 will end up back at ME or are the other SCNW depots sending buses down to london for the olympics?
As far as I've heard, every C&NL depot is losing something to either London or Manchester for them to send E400's down. I think Chorley are sending a few Scanias away as well, so will possibly keep 20794 for themselves to use as cover.
47019 & 47021 have permanantly moved to PR from CY.
Vehicles for the Olympics will be cascaded to London from throughout the group, in the WHOLE of the Northwest's case all BRAND NEW vehicles will moved to London and Depot's will provided covering vehicles as required, as an example all Manchester's new hybrid's, Newcastle's new hybrid's etc and other NEW vehicles will move and each Depot will move someting decent into the other depot's, in CY's case a dart ONLY is being sent to Manchester and then a B10 will replace the dart at CY it's worth pointing out that whilst the Olympics is on all low floor guaranteed routes have been relaxed so any Vehicle can be used.

according to the online fleetlists at lilyhall there are only 3 b10s left in full service(20913, 20918 and 20473) is this true? I thought that 20913 was withdrawn about the start of the year... Shame because 20910 and 20923 are actually 2 of the better b10s in cumbria in my opinion.

I see, I know it may be a stupid question right, How do Stagecoach decide which buses they are going to withdraw and when? for example I always remember 20923 being a reliable bus, I remember doing a journey all the way from penrith to workington on it near the end of last year and it seemed a really good strong bus, but now it's seemingly withdrawn.. why would they decide to say withdraw that bus, but keep another one similar eg 20902?

20473, 20902, 20910, 20918 and 20923 are all operational from Lillyhall.
Infact, on Saturday just gone 20910 was on full length X routes to Penrith for the day.
Such decisions are most likely based on the general mechanical condition of the vehicle... (20923 has broken down in Workington a couple of times..)
20913 *I think* has been repainted and is in store at Lilyhall so will no doubt be around during the Olympics...

Probably explains why london are gonna see MEs new deckers before the folk of Lancaster/morecambe.

This has always been the case and makes perfect sense. I think there was a time when SC added loads of stuff on to the last order because they were panicking about not having enough vehicles for London!
In anycase I believe MEs E400s will be delivered to ME, prepared for service and then sent down South.

Publicity shoot going on at Bowness Pier this morning, causing problems for a late running 599. The bus stop / layby had Stagecoach Trident 17013, Mountain Goat M8MGH and a load of bicycles being photographed, along with a group of people no doubt from each of the concerns. The Trident had trade plates attached at the back - no doubt the front ones were removed for the photoshoot.
The 599 had to go up to the coach park to turn round and then load up on the road. It left at 1132 instead of 1115

Now, i saw an OT Trident on trade plates (they're delicenced over winter) with what looked like "555 Windermere & onward to Keswick" or something like that on the Kendal Bypass late morning, i suppose that was it?

I can't believe 599 is so lucky to already be using OT buses this year! I went to Borrowdale yesterday and because it was so warm I was hoping for an Open top and thought it would have been a great day to test their newly converted tridents, instead I had 47721.... extreamly busy going back into Keswick!

SUMMER TIMETABLES START IN THE LAKES
TIMETABLE CHANGES
From Monday 2nd April 2012, the Summer Timetables will be introduced to our services operating in the Central Lakes.
This includes the 77/77A, 108, 505, 517, 554, 555, 599 and X4/X5.
These timetables are now available to view online.
Other Changes
The X50 journeys are renumbered back to X4 or X5 between Penrith and Keswick.
The 517 from Windermere to Patterdale (Kirkstone Rambler), has been renumbered to the 508 and now extends to Penrith.
There is a new Monday to Saturday 554 journey between Keswick and Carlisle, departing Keswick at 0930 and returning from Carlisle at 1050.
Sunday journeys between Lancaster and Keswick are now through journeys, which means there is no need to change at Kendal.

Has not passed through Carlisle for repaint from memory Ross. Was not repainted when I saw it in Lillyhall depot 2 weeks ago.

The 599 does not go to open top operation until the start of the summer season.
Because of the high loadings the 78 was a B10M today and is due to be again tommorow. Should be an open top but that is another debate...

Shame they never used 17012 which has been branded up for a month or so now... 17013 was used to promote Stagecoach but never mind...

Hello all,
I saw Chorley's Volvo Olympian 16651 (R251 NBV) in Southport today being driven along Eastbank Street by a Chorley driver accompanied by A N Other.
The only reason that I can think of for this is that the Southport schools that Stagecoach are taking over after Easter are going to be operated by Chorley garage.

My other half came across what looked like the official launch of these rather red buses today.

). That fleetnumber really doesn't show up very well.Nice to see they're finally out after being locked up in paintshops for the past few weeks! Must have been in for about 5 or 6 weeks now.
17012 is vinyled up for The Lakeland Fellranger on sides and rear, and has had CCTV fitted, looks quite smart. I'll be posting a photo to Flickr later on, will link it in when I do.
20977 on 78's today. 27766 on X4-X50 this morning, with 53339 (I think) on a 47 before Cockermouth School X5. 22596 on X4-X50 this evening, on the board 27766 was on. It was apparently put on because the wheelchair space was booked, to save messing around with the Profile's, but no wheelchair passenger turned up. Will say that 22596 was an awesome ride though, coped much better with X4 than they do 30/31, I'd even go as far as saying I quite enjoyed the ride.

Have uploaded a couple of shots of 17012 when first branded a few weeks ago and the 2 Cumberland buses in the paintshop from a 5 or so weeks ago.

its not stagecoach but on the council's website its interesting to see Alba Travel have introduced a new 208 service between Ullswater and Keswick with an early morning service from Penrith, I remember a similar service running a few years back and it never seemed very popular but this new service operates every 90 minutes or so from Keswick to either Pooley bridge or Patterdale, it also included a late night journey from keswick back to Penrith(via Patterdale!!) Not sure what the demand for that is, I wonder if Alba are trying to take a leaf out of Reays book

Does anyone know why Stagecoach use Double Deckers on the Penrith to Glenridding/Patterdale service?
Is it in readiness for increasing use in the Summer or the fact that they don't have sufficient Single Deckers?

If I remember correctly, it serves Ullswater Community College and Queen Elizabeth School in morning and afternoon school times.

Regarding the above, the service I saw was on a Monday lunchtime, so are Double Deckers used all day on this service?

The bus serves the 2 main schools in Penrith in the morning and then the afternoon so that requires a decker, I guess it just isnt worth butting a B10 or whatever on for the late morning lunchtime services, on saturdays the service is normally run with a B10 or a solo
