Wow Kendal getting solos that interesting. There's not much wrong with the Marshall's to be fair by Kendal standards anyway. Where are the Marshall's going to end up?

As I have said in a previous posting, the three remain short Mardhall bodied darts 33164-33166, were/are due to be transferred to Lillyhall either for storage or service.

33164 was on Town services yesterday.
33165 Not seen for over a week.
33166 was on Town services last week.

Interesting to see Kendal depot are getting Solos, especially as Princess coaches are already using an 09 reg'd Solo in Windermere, and in Kendal.

Special 7?

In my experience you dont have to work too hard to kill the B6 :) There is still at least one running in Lancaster, I think it was on a 49 at Skerton Triangle this morning.

47060 on Moorclose Circular 51.
20134 on 31A.
20752 on 31.
33168 and 47023 on Harrington & Seaton routes.
20779 done the morning Cockermouth X5.
40651 on "BNG Contract" around 1250 ish seen near The Richmond, heading up hill. the past few times i've seen this one, it has been a B10M (or 32917 when it was in service, feels good to say that haha).
40013 was in bus station this morning with "Workington 48" on the display.
14257, a K reg oly and possibly one of the N reg oly's on school work this afternoon.

Yeah, the route it takes is slightly different (and longer) than a normal 7, but it's still a 7. There's 4 trips per day AIUI, 1 morning, 2 lunchtime and 1 evening.

Both B6s are still about.

Kendal getting Solos seems a bit dim to me although if they are cutting routes back due to low patronage it makes some kind of sense. Would also compensate for the Tridents KL now has being longer than the Olympians/Titans.

How many solo's are Kendal getting?

That's a very good question, the first I knew that Kendal was getting Solo's, was when Paul report see 47056 on the 505's, which the two bike rack fitted buses 30342 & 33170, are supposed to be used on. There are currently two long Marshall bodied Darts at Kendal 33170 & 33173.

There's been a right mix of buses, on Kendal Town services today!, with Short Marshall/Dart 33164, Long Marshall/Dart 33173, Plaxton/Dart 34216, and Solo 47056. If that's not bad enough B10M's 20459, 20712, & 20776 also made appearance on Town Services, before going on Schools.

Kendal are supposed to get 3 solo's to replace 33164, 33165 and 33166. these are supposed to then go to either Barrow or Carlisle, but we'll see lol. would be better if they went to Barrow really, see off some 709D's. Carlisle has some knackered vario's though which could really do with being replaced

well who knows about those solos we'll just have to see :) In all fairness the Marshall's been in Kendal isn't that bad a thing. Kendal isn't anything special and so Marshall's are well suited to them.

Nothing special at all today apart from 20463 on the 3 and an 04 plate solo running through Bowerham with "X2 University via greaves". Obviously meant to be X1 I think.

18359 on D2 today with everything running as normal.

The only 7 I can think thats different is the Sunday service which goes through Ryelands unless they've brought back the old 7A which ran via Skerton Triangle.....

AFAIK, and this is just what I've been told by a friend, the route differs on the Marsh. Not to worry anyways.

Solos for Short Darts makes sense, closer capacity wise like. Kendal must be keeping some Darts - otherwise why did the Pointers arrive?
Would be interesting if some Solos did gain bike racks, 33170 could go back into a normal pool and 30342 could be withdrawn.

I think that there would be more chance of 33173, then a Solo being fitted with the bike rack off 30342, when it get withdrawn.

Just a thought, how close in capacity are the Pointers/ lwb Marshalls?

If they're similar, Pointers replace lwb Marshalls which move elsewhere. Solos replace swb Marshalls which move elsewhere.

The short Marshall's are 28-seaters, the long ones are 36-seaters, and the Pionters are 30-seaters.

Gez has confirmed that Kendal are getting Solos, but not what in place of...

Oddly enough, I was thinking today that Kendal is a Solo-free zone

Oh, another thing to add, 16662 has had a retrim. Seen this evening on staff shuttles at Lancaster.

Yes I've always thought quite often that Kendal was a solos free depot. But then I've always seen Kendal as an old fashioned depot for some reason and solos just didn't seem to fit in lol if you know what I mean.:D

Kendal as not quite been the Solo free-zone that we like to think!!!!
As other operators have tried using Solos in Kendal. Firstly, KLCH used to use them on the 2130 556 Kendal - Lancaster, these are with Stagecoach Nos 47247-47249, Then Apollo 8 used one on the 106 Kendal - Penrith service, which got burnt-out before xmas.

Now both Stagecoach & Princess are using them in Kendal, it be interesting to see how long these last.

The latest Stagecoach North West and, for the first time, Preston Bus Fleetcards dated 3rd May 2009. I haven't looked through them yet to see how accurate they are!!
