The A591 between Grasmere and Keswick re-opened at 08.30 yesterday - so the 555 Keswick-Grasmere-Ambleside-Windermere-Kendal-Lancaster returned to normal and the Grasmere-Keswick shuttles ceased.

Update on Stagecoach website - https://www.stagecoachbus.com/servi...rticle?SituationId=ID-18/09/2015-15:09:44:190

"The A591 is due to open at 8.30am on Wednesday 11th May 2016. The last shuttle journey on the 11th will be the 0750 from Grasmere and the 0805 from Keswick. The 555 service will return to normal running straight through from Keswick to Lancaster after 0830."

And one of the green 555 Scanias made it onto a front page photo on toady's News and Star.

Does anyone know when the MMC Enviro 400s for Morecombe and Kendal are due please?

Is it known yet if the current 555 Buses will be staying in Cumbria or sent to another division?

The E400s haven't replaced Solos. The Solo population at Preston has been cut down by the LCC service cuts. If anything they'll be replacing the older Tridents (again) to go for cascade.

MMCs for 555 are due any time now/next few weeks. Current 555 fleet will be moving to Barrow via a refurb for X6, allowing the current X6 fleet to move to Morecambe.

Thanks, Are the S-BWC Tridents DDA? if not will they be converted or replaced this year? (If information is known)

Pity that the E400s did not stay at Gillmoss were there superior capacity could have been used to replace Darts and Versas.

well....some (most?) of the X6 fleet were pinched from Morecambe's university services a couple of years ago as replacements when Stagecoach dumped the County Council owned buses that were used on the former Kendal-Barrow X35 express service. Be nice to have them back.
Incidentally I saw what looked like one of the X35 buses in Warrington last week - anyone know if thats where they went?

Even with the older Enviros leaving Gillmoss theres still plenty of Buses to get rid of the Darts and Versa's

Further south in the Stagecoach NW area, I have heard a suggestion that the Quality Partnership on the Chester - Liverpool corridor may be coming to an end in September.

The person I was speaking to suggested that Arriva are withdrawing their services on route 2 and that Stagecoach will be taking these services over.

Only one source so far, but given that Stagecoach haven't really wanted the QBP on this route since taking over from First, it doesn't come as a complete surprise.

I can remember, the 555 having 15-year old buses on it!, NOT that long ago!

there are 11-year old ones on it now. When the service frequency was increased by adding the Kendal-Lancaster expresses via the M6 (last year or 2014?), some of the MX05-series registered deckers which originated with the Manchester MagicBus fleet were painted green and drafted in alongside the dedicated fleet. Not sure how many, but they seem to make up around 30% of the schedules. They're in standard green stagecoach colours, not dedicated 555 branding

I think he's going back to the N-reg Volvos, which replaced the H-reg Leylands. Although, when they were on it, they were still relatively new compared to the rest of the local fleet, which was mostly a mix of F/G/H/J-reg Leylands.

Latest MMC's to enter service in Liverpool are 10547, 10549, 10564, 10567 & 10569, all seen today with 10547/9/67/9 on the 14 and 10564 on the 82/86.

The H-registered Olympian's, replaced the P-registered Atlantean's, which had previously replaced D & E registered examples.

I have heard that there are plans, to run this all-year around!, and NOT just in the summer months, as at present.

Gillmoss have loaned 10543/44 to Stagecoach South for the Wentworth PGA golf event and 10534-38 to Exeter for P & R duties during the Radio 1 event.

MAN/E300's 24161/2/4 from Gillmoss have gone to Hull (24163 is supposed to have gone as well but could still be at Gillmoss according to elsewhere). Tridents 18378/41/2 have arrived at Birkenhead ex Gillmoss, presumably replacing the '04'plates 18147/9-51 (at least) which are said to be leaving the fleet imminently although where to isn't known yet
