Well that opens up a new host of possibilities for these 30 new buses. I cant see 99s getting them since they have fast running as well while none of the town services in Fife could justify them either.

Fast running isn't the issue these days, it's range. The 99 would probably be well suited for BEVs with opportunity charging, especially since it's a single deck route and serves bus stations at either end of the route. Full BEV deckers in their current form most likely wouldn't be viable on the 20/21 or 73.

I wouldn't hold your breath for any improvements to the weekday timetable, despite the persistent poor reliability of the service. It doesn't take a genius to realise the current timetable operated with 11 buses is impossible to reliably achieve

I noted that the service 137-139 which is currently run by Xplore Dundee is being switched to Stagecoach (will timetables change with these services ie more frequently or as it stands now?)

If that is the case then, I dare say it will become a 20mins service. The Fall from grace will be bad with this route


There is Fare changes coming in few weeks:

From Sunday 8th May, we will be changing the price of our tickets across Fife, Perthshire, Dundee & Angus.

These increases reflect the rising costs of running services. Since 2019, costs across the bus industry have risen by around 12%, mainly driven by fuel and staff wage increases. Fares increases being made are below the annual rate of inflation (RPI) of 9%*.

What's changing:

• The fare change taking place on 8th May affects the majority of tickets across Angus, Dundee, Fife and Perthshire, representing an average of 4.8% increase on single and multi-journey tickets.
• Nightrider tickets, valid for unlimited travel after 7pm, are frozen at £3.
• All under 19 tickets and weekly child MegaRider tickets will also be withdrawn from this date due to customers aged between 5-21 and residents in Scotland, being eligible for free travel. More details on how to apply for free travel can be found at www.getyournec.scot.

It's one of the best value tickets out there considering you can do Glasgow to Aberdeen with it just in a very long way. I've been to Fife a few times recently with it. I also used it for Livingston via Dunfermline too as it's a fair bit cheaper than the train and the Livingston stations are well away from the town centre.

Yes, used it a good few times. Easy to get to Aberdeen one way on it, bit of a mission to return in a day using the x7. I have used to Dundee and Back.

Some of the replies have been inexcusably and utterly bizarre though, you'd think there'd be some sort of moderation/quality checking especially in the first few days. Additionally some tweets have taken over a day to get a reply, by that point the original tweet is obsolete!

Here's hoping it does get better as the teams get more experience though

A lot of ex work colleagues of mine who recently took redundancy from another company in Perth were meant to start over a month ago but this was been delayed by a few weeks as well due to Covid related absence and only started on the 19th of April.

Things should start to settle out over the next few weeks when things start to bed in.

Isn't it time Stagecoach upped the frequency of the 747 from Halbeath P&R to Edinburgh Airport from an Hourly Service ?

I was on the first service of the morning the other Saturday and it was a Double Decker but rammed !!

This morning I caught the 0451 service from Ferrytoll P&R it was a single decker and almost full.

They used to run every 20 minutes, surely a half hourly service as we approach the holiday season is not to much to ask for ?

Some of the services that ran pre-Covid haven’t come back now we have returned to normal.

As an example, the last bus back from Glasgow to Fife moved from 23:30 to 22:50 in January 2021 but hasn’t returned to the original time. Also the N55 from Edinburgh to Fife on a Friday and Saturday are still not back. I wonder if they’ve given up on them for perceived anti-social reasons.

Also - from a frequency perspective - the Fife x26 service hasn’t returned meaning two buses per hour on the Glasgow route rather than four. This caused issues on a Saturday in the Spring when the Old Firm were at home and people couldn’t get on after Dunfermline.

Finally the direct service to Glasgow Airport is still missing.

I’ve queried with Stagecoach whether or not these services will return but have had no response.

The Leven to Glenrothes services are very rarely busy. However, the Edinburgh and Glasgow express services can leave both cities full, particularly at weekends. The Fife 7 can be quite busy coming into Kirkcaldy from the Leven end, and also gets fairly busy when it's kicking out time at the local schools

Weren't all the registrations dated to end in October 2021, but when there was further issues with the staffing levels it was then decided to keep them on as permanent?

The X52 from Dunfermline to Edinburgh ran 3 south in the morning and 3 north in the evening (4 on a Friday) pre covid. Now just 2 in each direction each day. Keep seeing lots of learner buses out and about in Dunfermline.

It’s a shame if these don’t return. The N55 in particular was very well used. I wonder if they’ll do something for the Edinburgh Festival as - from memory - they used to put the later buses on all week.

Also, from a selfish perspective, the later timed last bus from Glasgow back to Fife was very useful when attending gigs - recently I’ve needed to leave before the end. Anything at the Hydro is particularly challenging.

It's the cheapest way to get to the Airport for me in Falkirk, and avoid the Parking Charges which have shot up at the Airport since the end of the pandemic.

With a rucksack I could get the 38 from Falkirk and walk down from the road end but not with a suitcase.

Do people from Fife mind freeloaders from Stirlingshire clogging up their services and utilising their cards to wipe out the £8.40 fare (that's shot up)
