Converting an Omnicity from Euro 4 to Euro 6 only costs about £2,000.

The cost is more like £20,000 (and that was a few years ago). Operators who had funding throug the Clean Bus Technology Fund often provided 10% funding under their bid so this may be where £2,000 has come from. Retrofitting is no longer funded as real world data showed it was doing very little on most buses retrofitted.

I can assure you it's much much more than £2000 to carry out that work! Labour alone on it will cost more!

Im no mechanic but even the word “replacing the exhaust system” for 2 grand sounds unlikely

Ashley told Bus & Coach Buyer that, although it’s impossible to give precise pricing as every installation will be different, operators should expect the repower to be about 20% of the cost of the vehicle, when new. This might typically be around £30,000 to £40,000.

Figures of around £20,000 have been suggested for the cost of retrofitting an older vehicle to satisfy Euro 6, although until the database-related issues that currently beset the approval and certification processes are ameliorated, there is no true clarity on that.

You would think the inflation increase is probably offset by an advance in technology/familiarity since. I’d expect the prices to be fairly similar, if not slightly less. I think the government were funding this for a while but I would think that has long since stopped. The advancement of EV’s have maybe made companies offer these conversions for less too. But still a comfortable 5 figure sum.

Would they get away with converting buses now, as funding was halted because it was ineffective in reducing emissions? Coaches do not appear to have the same problem.

There has been a minor update to the service changes planned from the link postage on the page before:

* 33: The 1504 journey from Kirkcaldy will now operate through to Dunfermline Monday – Friday & the 1650 from Kirkcaldy will extend to Halbeath Park & Ride Monday – Friday. The 0604 journey from Cowdenbeath to Kirkcaldy will now start at 0556 from Halbeath Park & Ride, the 1540 & 1615 journeys from Cowdenbeath will now start at 1532 & 1606 from Halbeath Park & Ride Monday – Friday. The 0804 journey from Cowdenbeath which operates on non school days will now start from Dunfermline at 0735. The 0604 journey from Cowdenbeath to Kirkcaldy on Saturdays will now start at 0556 from Halbeath Park & Ride.

* 88: Early morning journeys on Mondays – Fridays will operate 10 minutes earlier to improve reliability.

* JET787: Minor changes to the timetable to improve reliability. Changes to stances at Kinross Park & Ride and Halbeath (the service will use the same stance as the JET747 at Halbeath).Two additional stops will be added at Gateside Primary School and Ingliston Road to provide more journeys for events at the Royal Highland Centre.

I think we’ve still a while to go, it’s clear the BZLs are taking their time considering @Ohnolookwho’s statement.

Theres more than just 147, four or five JET branded ones were at Aberhill yesterday night, in various states of being ready. Plus I think atleast 4 more Blue ones for St Andrews.

I’ve come to the realisation that stuff have happened a lot quicker than I initially thought, sighted this on Facebook this morning;

Dunfermline 76147 SF25YLA (Volvo BZL) one of many single deckers have arrive in east scotland. They are least 28 new single on order split between 3 depots with St Andrews got majority of them for 99 rest of Arbroath and Dunfermline

76147 first one arrived to Dunfermline last for driving training seen today with more driving training for 747 service between halbeath and Edinburgh airport to replace ADL E200mmc which is currently being used on the service

Also saw a photo of it pre-vinyls that I can’t seem to find anymore, but originally it had white around the headlights which looked err… not the greatest, in my opinion, so I think the black suits it much better, though I think the pink would have been better. I also find it odd that they don’t have pink right at the top aswell like on 26166-26171, but I mean hey, I think they look nicer than the E200MMCs anyway, so who gives a toss?
