The oldest ALX 400 now is 18164 at Mansfield which is originally a 54 plate. It also has a flipdot blind, not many of these in use now.

The remaining depots with ALX 400’s are:
Gainsborough, Worksop, Mansfield.

Service changes this weekend include the 22 from Doncaster to Worksop increasing to every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday.

Stagecoach East Midlands buses were not tracking all day yesterday and are still not tracking this morning. This is quite inconvenient if you use an a service which is only hourly and subject to delays at peak times. They are not tracking on the Stagecoach App, bustimes.org or displaying any real time information at bus stops including Nottingham Victoria Bus Station screens.

Since I posted this earlier today I see that this is currently a wider issue with Stagecoach than just the East Midlands. According to bus times.org “The boffins at Stagecoach are working on it”.

At least on bustimes.org, Stagecoach seems to be tracking properly again this morning.

I have noticed that. The Stagecoach app began to show live times again late yesterday afternoon but it still doesn’t seem to be tracking buses on their map.

All working again correctly now as of Sunday 26th May.

Whats happened to the hybrid Skegness Seasiders ?

Only 3 seen out in service today (30th May)
12030 Milly (closed top), 12036 Sweetie, 12045 Teddy

and 6 others the depot 12029/34/7/8/47/8 looking like they were off the road.

Is there a problem with reliability ?

Original seasider Olympian 16314 (IUI 5454) Hattie was noted in Skegness town centre but not in service, and parked up at the depot later in the afternoon.

In Cleethorpes, both Lolly and Splash were on the 17s on Monday 27th May.

They are not very reliable which is not surprising as similar aged E400H's in other places have been scrapped. It is even more disappointing as it is school holiday week. They should have kept at least the 51plate ALX400 as a reserve/spare for this.

I wonder if any operator of seaside open toppers has considered something like a Zeebus conversion to full battery electric? I'd have thought the E400H would be a great starting point as they already have some provision for electric running. Not sure how fast they can get up to before the diesel needs to kick in, but a seaside bus is going to trundle along anyway so that might not be such an issue.

Of course there will be extra costs in the conversion, but in theory it should extend the life of the bus and as you are investing in the conversion in the first place it would seem to have some merit to consider the propulsion side as well?

Update: 37119 entered service in Hull this morning (24/06/24) but in the afternoon returned to Mansfield with 24161 coming back the other way with the rest of the moves scheduled cancelled. It was decided that the buses were unsuitable for the intended route.

Some rumoured fleet movements that are due to happen

Looks like Stagecoach East Midlands are planning to put MAN/Enviro 300s into Worksop (5) and Mansfield (4), transferred from Hull within the next week
Looks like 24201-05 to Worksop; 25161-64 to Mansfield; 27192/96/97/98/99, 27201-04 to Hull; 37199, 37206, 37002/03/05 to Scunthorpe
This would mean that

24161 PO59MWU Hull - Mansfield (At Mansfield now)
24162 PO59MWV Hull - Mansfield
24163 PO59MWW Hull - Mansfield
24164 PO59MWX Hull - Mansfield
24201 FX10 AEN Hull - Worksop
24202 FX10 AEO Hull - Worksop
24203 FX10 AEP Hull - Worksop
24204 FX10 AET Hull - Worksop
24205 FX10 AEU Hull - Worksop

27192 SL64 HYB Worksop - Hull
27196 SL64 HYH Scunthorpe - Hull
27197 SL64 HYJ Worksop - Hull
27198 SL64 HYK Worksop - Hull
27199 SL64 HYM Worksop - Hull
27201 SL64 HYO Scunthorpe - Hull
27202 SL64 HYP Scunthorpe - Hull
27203 SL64 HYR Scunthorpe - Hull
27204 SL64 HYS Scunthorpe - Hull

37002 SN63 YRA Mansfield - Scunthorpe
37003 SN63 YRC Mansfield - Scunthorpe
37005 SN63 ATO Mansfield - Scunthorpe
37199 YY64 GVA Mansfield - Scunthorpe (According to bustimes it is tracking in Hull depot)

Update 19/07/24 Trident the Bear on Twitter/X is now reporting

Enviro 400MMCs 11743-46 leaving Stagecoach Manchester. They will join the Stagecoach East Midlands fleet at Skegness. At Stagecoach East Midlands Volvo B7RLEs 21221/22/24/28 are due to transfer from Lincoln to Grimsby, concentrating all B7RLEs at the one depot
21228 has already moved with the other to follow

A planned increase in vehicle requirement with Stagecoach East at Bedford will see Enviro 200s 37199, 37002/03/05 transfer from Stagecoach Eat Midlands at Mansfield. They will be replaced at Mansfield with Enviro 400s 10042-45 from Stagecoach Manchester.

In other news

11685/86/87/88/89 from Hull have travelled to Swindon on 18/07/24 to help with services for The Royal International Air Tattoo

Enviro 300s 27191 (ex Worksop) and 27204 (last used at Skegness) have transferred back to Grimsby.
Of the Volvo's mentioned above 21221 arrived today and did a run on the 3 before a run out on the 250 to Hull and 21228 was over the pits in Grimsby garage on Thursday.

I assume the reason for gaining 27191/204 is because of tomorrow's uplift to the 3/4 & the new 11? The 4 B7RLEs one would assume is to keep all the volvos at Grimsby?

As far as I know they're all for the uplift in services, but they have taken the opportunity to put all the B7RLES together as well. It makes sense, it was more surprising they didn't come to Grimsby when East Midlands got them.

Grimsby have 27191/204 already (they've been in service since about Thursday). Are we receiving an additional 3 or is it just one more to make the 3 you've mentioned?

Looking at Bustimes Hull only have 27195 and 27881 at the moment. 27195 looked like it was transferring to Grimsby on Saturday 20th as it came across in the morning on the 250 then went to the garage. However after a few hours it worked back to Hull on the 1415 departure.
A driver at Grimsby messaged me to say 27191 and 27204, plus the 4 Volvo's 21221/2/4/8 were transferring here, but he didn't mention any others.

You are right that Hull only have 27195 and 27881 as the only Enviro 300s that are not MAN as most of them transferred away April/May time. I think 27191 was a Hull bus that had been on loan at Worksop. 27204 was a Hull bus that had been on loan at Skegness but was due to move to Scunthorpe a few months back but never seemed to make it with 37207 never making it to Hull in return. 27195 looks like it went on the 250 to replace 26268 which later in the day got swapped back round.

3 of the 4 Urban 2's are now in use. 221 on 9/10s, 222 on 3/4s and 228 is on the 250! 224 isn't here yet, bus times showed it at Beverley on Wednesday for some reason - I assume having work done?

Usual bustimes precaution but seems some of the buses that went from Hull to the Grand Prix on weekend have not returned

11685 has been delivered to Mansfield; presume for service?
11686 has been delivered to Lincoln; presume will stay there with 11688
11688 now in service at Lincoln (service 6)

Only 11687 and 11689 got returned to Hull

Out of interest, with Hull being short of buses has anything been sent to Hull to cover these 3 (did spot 19060 in hull depot but no idea if for service or MOT)?

I think they are all due to be back in Hull tomorrow. 19060 did have a MOT on friday at Hull and is back at Scunthorpe now.

10042-45 arrived at Mansfield today from Manchester

Could the transfer be for the pronto increase to every 10 mins Monday to Saturday in September
Yes I just been reliably informed that Hull are due to loose several new buses in August to Lincoln being replaced by buses from Elgin (not sure how true) and extra buses are also due from Manchester and Merseyside for Hull and Lincoln's increases in September

As how much would the pvr go as by my maths it should be either 2 or 3

In Hull, from September, most services are being increased.

Also registered via VOSA today are 2 new routes and 2 are extended, which can be viewed via this link, As bustimes now directly linka to VOSAs bus registrations:

New routes are
34 Hull to Stoneferry Road
(New Registration to supply a new service between Chamberlain Road and Hull City Centre)

11/111
Service 111 will be rerouted to serve Cottingham to Beverley

New service 110
110 will replace 111 and extend to operate more trips via Wilberforce College

Services 8 & 10 is having route changes

The rest are all timetable increases (not sure what they're increasing to)

I suspect an increased PVR of around 15 to 20 extra buses needed with the timetable increases

When you say new buses, do you mean some of the 73 plate ones they got late last year or the 19 plate ones?
