I'm sure that back at the time, something was posted about this incident. DC Rail where in bad shape after this. They are still going, but does anyone know what happened to the driver and tech involved? Are they still employed on the railways?

Given that the "driver" had no proper or evidenced qualification to be driving on Network Rail and had falsified their route card I would hope they're nowhere near main line operations. The loco was a failure as it left a depot and shouldn't have gone beyond the gate too. From memory he had been a fireman on a heritage railway and had occasionally fired on the main line.

I haven't read the report but was this the incident where they touched 97mph on a 75mph limited light loco move then discovered they didn't have enough braking force to stop between the double yellow and red signals?

Yeah that’s the one, the drivers route knowledge was questionable.
It probably would’ve stopped if the driver had applied the brake fully at the double yellow.

Yes, I thought they were off mainline duties and so they should be ! Why was the engine given permission to leave Washwood Heath in the first place? I've read the report, but this escapes that. But overall, these pair of muppets were basically joyriding with a railway engine. It was lucky it didn't prove catastrophic.
