Staffed station with least trains

Does anyone know which staffed station has the least amount of trains stopping at it?? Which ticket office staff has the easiest job??

A very large proportion of Merseyrail stations are quite quiet all day. The franchise requires all stations to be staffed in Merseyside.

I would say that Bank Hall gets about 50 passengers a day, of which maybe 30 need tickets. Staffed from 0600-0015. Has a train every 15 minutes in each direction.

It's not how many trains stop at a station which determines how busy it is...

I would imagine Winsford (Liverpool-Birmingham line) is a fairly easy job as it's staffed but at off-peak times there's two hour gaps in the timetable. Although it can get around 20 people all wanting tickets at busy periods.

Settle has to be in with a shout,but doubt it is top of the pile though for trains stopping.15 a day in total.As for passenger numbers,its far from quiet at times,even with those few trains.

Fort William : Mon - Fri 07:00 - 20:00, Sat 07:00 - 17:45, Sun 16:30 - 20:00

After all the question as the number of trains, not the number of passengers!

When I was working at Reading, I often dreamed of a transfer to Wick.

Two trains a day (deps during opening hours)
No early mornings or late nights
No restrictions
No TVM's to look after
No beggars

Last time I was there (2006), the whole station area was almost deserted, apart from the rail staff! The passengers quickly left on foot, by car or by taxi, and there wasn't a soul about except me!

Something quite ironic is that when I arrived on a Southeastern service at Charing Cross mainline on a Saturday afternoon it was just like that - about 50 people alighted the train, immediately left the station or headed for the Underground and no-one appeared to be waiting around for a mainline train - maybe there's just so many services that no-one's left waiting for long.

That's pretty unusual - I've hardly ever seen Charing Cross quiet, except on a Sunday morning when I decided, for some reason I'll never quite understand, to go to Hastings.

Oh, I remember, I was visiting all the south coast coastal towns in turn!

(Still don't know why though, just to use the PRIV I expect!)

That's pretty unusual - I've hardly ever seen Charing Cross quiet,

What made it more surprising in my case is that I was only using the Southeastern service because DLR was closed for engineering works and I opted to go a longer way round over taking the replacement bus, so I would have thought other people may have done the same on that day.

Time normally goes quicker when you are busy, but just banging out Travelcard after Travelcard on the middle turn was extremely boring! At the time, I yearned to be bored in the far north, sorting out the occasional exotic journeys down south to Inverness for the locals!

Adderley Park must come top of the pile surely for the station most undeserving of having staff; 30,318 passengers per year, hourly train service and staffed from the time of the first to the time of the last train.

Carstairs is indeed staffed; from 7:20 to 14:24 Monday-Saturday. The following services operate within this time:
07:25 arrival from Motherwell
07:42 service to North Berwick
08:05 Carstairs to Garscadden
09:14 service to Glasgow Central (from North Berwick)

I can't find any reason for it to stay open after 09:14; the next train's not until 15:59 as far as I can see!

Eh? We have quite a lot of unmanned (and rather important unmanned) stations in the SPT area. Most of the large ones (such as those on the North Clyde and Argyle lines) are manned; these are pretty busy trains. But a lot of stations, such as Whifflet, aren't manned and could really do with staff.

How they can afford to man Carstairs is beyond me. I always thought that it was something to do with the sleeper, but it isn't open for it in either direction so I have absolutely no idea why. Perhaps it would be deemed inappropriate to remove the staff for some reason or other.

Maybe an agreement from days of old.
Probably getting a Grade B wage maybe even a Grade C for a few hours work isny bad anyway. I agree it would be a bit boring like.
