Staff Priv/TOC upgrade to First Class?

Tried looking up ATOC Staff Travel for answers but doesn't seem to go into specifics.

Looking for some info on possible upgrades to First Class.

I am an employee of First Scotrail and planning some trips during the year within Scotland and possibly using East Coast or Caledonian Sleeper.

My staff passes allow me to travel in Standard Class either free or 75% reduced rate travel on other TOCs.

Does anyone know if I can use my passes to travel First Class, having the standard ticket cost with no charge and effectively paying just for the upgrade? Am I right to assume that the 75% discount applies to both STD and 1st prices?

Also since the ticket price would be heavily discounted, would I be exempt from any First Class extras like meals on the East Coast services?

Your priv ticket is not valid for 75 percent off 1st anytime tickets.

Generally, only senior staff have 1st class privs which I can believe use for std tickets too.

On other TOCs you need a standard ticket then pay to upgrade if poss (ie east coast weekends etc) but often an advance 1st class is cheaper.

You can get 1st class sleeper births with a priv I believe-I have done twice before.

As for scotrail, not sure if they offer 1st class upgrades at all but I'm sure if you speak your colleague who is working that train as the guard then he/she may sort you out.

You can only buy discounted 1st Anytime tickets if your pass is a 1st class Priv card, it will have '1ST' in the top right corner if it is first class and 'STD' in the top right corner if it is standard class.

If the TOC involved has a separate first class upgrade ticket (like Weekend First), you can buy that at the public rate to use with your Priv Standard Anytime ticket, otherwise the excess is from the Priv Standard Anytime fare to the public first class fare.
