Staff pass usage query

Hi everyone,

I start working as a trainee driver next month, and i was curious as to what entitlement the staff rail pass gives you. I dont want to take the mickey, so i will use it for going to work and back. However i was wondering if i can use it on my days off etc taking my family runs out on the trains, and usually once a year i travel to Birmingham. Would i be able to use it for that also???

Hi

You get a few passes all of which you can use as much as you like-to go to work and on your days off.

You will get a pass for your own TOC so you never have to buy a ticket for that operator again-use it to go to and from work, to go shopping, go out drinking etc with no problems.

Depending on the company that pass may also work on other TOCs within the group or by special arrangement. For example all the govia companies-SN, SE, LM have the same pass. FCC passes also work on any east coast route at weekends and mon to fri if on duty in uniform south of Newark etc.

You also get a priv card which gives you 75% off anytime tickets on all uk TOCs.

So basically to answer your question it's not taking the Mickey, you can use them as much as you like for anything you like

I certainly would like to start getting out and about more on trains now, especially if its free.

Whatever you do , check on your travel entitlements , as employers are non forgiving with any misuse - (residential = that) , your own leisure entitlements of course are a different matter.
