Staff Pass restrictions?

Having been the only member of my family not to work on the railway I lost my dependants pass many years ago so I am way out of touch with the rules these days. My Dad is going home tomorrow (3rd) Euston to Preston - probably catching the 11:30. Are there any restriction for him using his 1st class London Midland pass on Virgin?

Depends on what type of pass it is.
If he's safeguarded(ex-BR) then his staff pass is valid on anything. If it's a London Midland specific one then it depends on what their rules are.

As has been said, need more detail on exactly what type of pass it is.

If its a TOC staff pass then it will normally say if he can sit in 1st (many dont let you). However if you he is using his pass on another TOC be careful, if its a sheared route ie Southern/southwest trains, then theirs normally not a problem but if your going to use his on say east coast and works for southern then i would be careful.
