I understand mainline drivers book on at Temple Meads

They sign the two routes into phillips marsh

Am I right there is a depot driver or two there as well?

If they bring a train in do they normally bring another one out or can they end their duties there as well?

As I understand it where I work, depot drivers only drive on depot, not on the mainline to and from stations?

There are depot drivers who drive units to and from Temple Meads.

FGW use taxis to/from SPM when journeys are one way etc.

There is dedicated shed men who book on and off at St Phillios Marsh (SPM) who are able to shunt units and HSTS, and ferry them too and from the station/elsewhere.

Mainline drivers at Bristol Temple Meads also sign SPM and the 2 routes (Bedminster & North Somerset Jnc) into it and have dedicated turns where you can take trains on/off as well as prepare them for service.

Google estimates 19 minutes. If you're leaving from BRI then you hopefully won't have long to wait for a taxi, the place always seems to be crawling with them when I'm there.

FGW have accounts with private hire taxi firms for their staff. They don't use Hackney cabs from the rank.

Not anymore there is no authorised walking route from SPM to Temple Meads via the back of Bath Rd Depot anymore.

I have walked it, took about 20 minutes and it was quite a nice walk, mostly!
