St Pancras to Heathrow Terminal 5

Wonder if anyone would be able to help advise a scenic route. Please be aware at the moment I am suffering a medical problem preventing me walking and standing for long periods of time.

I get to STP at 1104 tomorrow and need to be at heathrow t5 to meet my partner at 1500.

Want to be able to spot some new mainline rail and some underground.

If anyone has done a similar route very mucj like to hear your advise.

I do hold a day travelcard zones 1 to 6 including london terminals.

Piccadilly Line direct from King's Cross St Pancras is the logical route. The line surfaces between Earl's Court and Baron's Court and is fairly pretty after Acton Town.
The only mainline to Heathrow is either Heathrow Express (Travelcards not valid) or Heathrow Connect both from Paddington. On Heathrow Connect, TravelCards are not valid between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow. Neither service is a wholly NR service hence the restriction.

If you have time to spare at the airport, it's free to travel on the Heathrow Express between Heathrow Central/T4/T5, or you may want to experience the new Heathrow Pod (ULTra) between Terminal 5 and the Business Car Park - it departs from the 2nd floor of the terminal car park IIRC - it's extremely good fun!

Waterloo to Feltham then a bus if you want another way to get there on a travelcard.

This might be better off in the General Discussion forum, but here's my tuppenceworth:

St Pancake - West Hampstead (317, or 377 if you're lucky)
West Hampstead - Richmond (378)
Richmond - Feltham (various)
Bus to Heathrow

Alternatively, 65 bus from Richmond to Ealing Broadway (goes from outside Richmond station, terminates ~100m from Ealing Broadway), then Heathrow Connect to Heathrow (fare payable).

Or:
St Pancreas - East Croydon (317 or 377 again)
East Croydon to Wimbledon (Tramlink)
Wimbledon to Kingston or Hampton
111 bus to Heathrow (from outside the station)

Or:
Kings Cross St Poodle Underground to Rayners Lane (S stock; you may have a wait and I don't know what routes are operated by S-stock, you might need to change at Harrow)
Rayners Lane to Acton to Heathrow

For just spotting, you'll be able to see both new Underground stock types from Kings Cross (different parts of the Underground station, and it is a long way from anywhere to anywhere else).

It would be a 319 or 377 on the Thameslink route not a 317

The new S Stock is quite rare, but I've seen two pass through one after another. Given the recent problems, they've suspended production temporarily (not sure if it has restarted) and the last one I saw was out of service, full of people in the front and rear cab (and inside) wearing orange hivis - possibly Bombardier engineers.

If you sit down near the far end of the platform at King's Cross (the bit where only Met line trains stop) then you could wait - but be prepared to wait a while. I waited for 5 trains and gave up, but no staff ever approached me and asked what I was doing (there are seats there, so you don't need to stand). I did have one or two look at me, but perhaps they figured what I was doing!
