Friends needs to travel one way, off-peak from St Pancras to Croydon (East or West) breaking journey at Whitechapel. He has a disabled adult railcard, but it's not linked to his Oyster. What is the cheapest ticket please? (Looking it up so far I've got conflicting fares).

He could go to the London Underground ticket hall at King's Cross St Pancras to get his railcard added to his Oyster. Then it would be £2.05 to get to Whitechapel, and £1.65 to West Croydon.
Without a railcard, this would be £3.10 and £2.50 respectively on Oyster or contactless. I don't think any paper tickets would result in a saving despite the ability to use a railcard. (A paper single from St Pancras to Croydon Stations routed 'Not Underground' is £5.65 and even if it is valid via Whitechapel which I'm not sure about, Elizabeth Line barrier staff are likely to cause difficulty).

Bus 205 is an option for the St Pancras to Whitechapel leg of the journey. Picks up at Stop E outside Kings Cross Station.

Off Peak fares, presumably?

TFL Gateline staff should be able to add a Disabled railcard easily but you need to make sure they select disabled railcard not National railcard on the POM from memory it’s further down the dropdown menu

Thanks for the replies. I'll meet him at St Pancras and try and get his railcard added to his Oyster at Kings Cross tube. It would be a good thing to get done anyway.

I have always gone into the TfL Visitors Centre at Kings Cross\St Pancras to have my Senior Railcard added to my Oyster and the staff there have been so friendly and helpful. I’ve always had it added very quickly with no problems. This can be found on the right hand side as you enter the tube at St Pancras just after you have passed through the brick arches leaving St. Pancras Station at the main Euston Road end.
