St Pancras EES additional questions - still suspended?

Does anyone know if the extra questions for EES ( accommodation, funds, etc ) are still suspended? I'm off to Brussels tomorrow but haven't decided where I'm heading after that. I don't want to bother with dummy reservations if not needed.

EES was still suspended as of 10am today when I went through - at least in terms of any standalone kiosks being in use (I was directed to use the e-gates, so I don't know if they were registering people at the staffed French border desks)

I went through with my family entering the EU from St. Pancras on 19 December and none of the new checks such as biometrics or photos were taken, let alone the additional questions, even though we were processed by French border staff manually (who simply stamped our passports as they would have previously). Presumably they have the option to suspend these new checks during busy times, at least during the early phase of the implementation of Schengen Entry and Exit System (EES)...

Sounds quite heavy, almost like moving to US-style levels of suspicion.

Are you expected to bring a print out of your bank statement to prove you have enough money in the bank to cover you for the time you're there? And/or proof you're currently employed in the UK and have a regular salary coming in?
Don't remember needing these for last time I visited the US, which admittedly was in 2011, hence pre-Trump. I did need an ESTA but don't remember being asked to prove employment status, savings, etc. Was just a case of filling in a form and paying a small admin fee (much lower than what applies under Trump, I should add - ISTR it was $14), all online from home, and that was it.

Haven't been to the continent since this has come in, but worth knowing if I need to bring one or other of those things...
