St Ives branch improvements

News has filtered to me of Platform extensions at St Erth and Lelant for summertime 5 coach trains along the branch. All very welcome. I was wondering if this means that my home station Lelant will now loose it's request stop status and if so, would this be just for the summertime services only? Has anyone any idea of the planned services?

NR western twitter account have posted several updates in regards to their engineering works in the West Cornwall area, including the lengthening of platforms on the St Ives branch. In the text it’s alluded to 5 car 150s, however that is currently only possible with reforming the units into 3...

towards the end of the thread the linked reports state that St Erth has had only a 6m extension.

I misunderstood the OP. I thought it meant a further extension at St Erth.

At Lelant the existing platform has been extended by 13 metres while at St Erth the platform has been extended by six metres. The platforms are expected to be commissioned and approved to welcome the first five-carriage trains later this year with GWR planning on operating these longer trains during the peak summer months.
