Doubt it would happen though as FCC are not considering Oyster for St Albans city station either! Anyway it wouldn't solve the problem of fare evading on the Abbey line as passengers could still just only touch in at Watford Jct if they wanted to.

An interesting one about Oyster at St Albans City - jury out I think - I did 4+ hours at West Hampstead yesterday evening - very noticeable
how almost 80% of the traffic was Oyster (95% say the barrier staff) - if charged right would bring in even more traffic I reckon .....way the world is going......

Do I remember rightly that FCC was considering trying to get the Oyster system extended to St Albans City, but the government disapproved as it wasn't their rather dubious ITSO system?

I think you're right, FCC pushed for it, but the Gov and County Council said no.
