Got off the train from Norwich today just before half past 2. As we were walking away from the station a 2 coach Sprinter followed the train we'd just got off south.

Looked on RTT as I was curious. Normally it's just the LHCS and the odd freight. No such working on RTT.

I guess it must have been a positioning move to get stock to Ipswich for the Felixstowe line?

Some of the Mk3s are getting tatty. Not a surprise given the short time they have left, but the one we sat in on the way too Norwich had an odd smell somewhere between stale BO and a damp musty aroma. Not nice. The one on the way back was quite nice and seemed to have more modern lighting - think it's an ex-HST coach as there was yellow visible in the vestibule where some of the grey paint had been scratched.
Noticed a jumble of carriages all over Crown Point in part rakes or just singly. I can't imagine being sat in this humid weather with no air con running does them much good.

Probably an ECS move for the east Suffolk/Felixstowe route like you say. Probably left hot on the heels of the express.
