I rolled at the idea that people should be labelled as nazis, just because nazis did a particular salute and these people do a salute that is, in fact, completely different. It's absolute drivel.

I really don't think anyone had made such an allegation.

Right to clear things up.

A) I did not mean offence by saying the nazi salute, it was just incase people did not know what i meant, the closest example i could find to relate to was a nazi salute my appologies if i have caused offence by this.

B) I just woundrd why spotters/bashers do it.

C) And where it originated from.

Again i would like to apologise for any offence i may have caused.

Forgive me if I look stupid here but .............. on the picture of the train with all those people hanging from it is that in service or is this picture posed.

Would think some drivers would have a good laff at using the windscreen washers and wipers, and how many would you lose with a loud unexpected horn blast.

If you look at the picture from the OP, you will notice his arm is out to the side where-as a nazi salute it is out in front.

Hitler is recorded as having used a very similar form of salute when parades drove/marched past him. Also, there is another less familiar nazi salute which is similar to the Red Indian common greeting.

A bit off-topic I admit and I can see that the photo is posed...But can Indian trains get as seriously crowded as the photo implies? hock:

I've heard a lot about overcrowding on Indian railways, and - Although I'm probabally missing a big bit of the picture here - I've often wondered why they don't lengthen their trains to suit?

If nothing else, it'd give some nice opportunities for double, triple and even quad-headed workings on a tour of the country!

The classic flail is more of a scoop at low level from right to left anyhoo.
