The new Aviva life insurance ad. Can you please just watch it (41 secs) and tell me whether you think it's pretty spooky or not (you can't kill off the Green Army man!)

I was a bit creeped out when it first came on TV

I was under the impression that the father of the children and the man in the ad were not the same person and that the children's father died some time prior

I didn't find it spooky but it certainly is a surprisingly good ad. Certainly better than the previous attempts by Aviva.

Yeah, I was a bit lost for words. It's very hard hitting for an insurance ad. I can't say it's made me want to take out a policy. Very odd.

It seemed completely out of synch with their previous series of Whitehouse ads. Whether that is a godo thing or not is best left to the tastes of the individual! I will say I didn't liek it though!

I think this advert is very powerful, primarily because I ordinarily associate Paul Whitehouse's Aviva involvement in a comedy role. It comes as a bit of a shock to see him confronting a harsh reality like this and the effect is all the better for it.

You can't really put a sensible comedy spin on Life Insurance, this ad is in the same mould as some of the Cancer Research ads that have been on before

The tone of ads for Cancer charities is different, and they are not part of a series of ads promoting a set of products from one company. I take the point that it's a difficult subject for comedy, but it just sits awkwardly with the others in my opinion.

when I see that add i cant help but think Randall and Hopkirk (Decesed (sp)). The message is clear though, basically if you love your family buy our insurance. I also accept that its difficult to make a joke out of life insurance, and that it sort of breaks the mould for the series of adds.
