My wife has a retired staff Oyster which, as part of its coverage, is valid from Watford Junction to Euston and wonders whether this can be used in conjuction with a flexi season to travel to/from Euston on LNWR trains that don't stop at WFJ? Also, she's never used a flexi season before and as it's only available on smart card media, wonders whether there would be any complication if she only touches in at her home station at the start of the day and touches out at the end of the day? I know there will be a knowledgeable person who can advise! Thanks in advance
So long as the retired staff Oyster:
a) is valid for the type of travel your wife intends to undertake (it is common for such passes to bar use for commuting, and using a Flexi Season may be taken as evidence that your wife is commuting),
b) is valid on LNR (is it not TfL only?), and
c) doesn't have anything in the conditions of issue excluding the possibility of non-stop splits,
then the answer is yes.
There is no issue with doing a non-stop split from the perspective of the Flexi Season. The only thing that matters on that front is that you activate a day's travel before boarding the first train of the day, by touching it on a smartcard reader or ticket barrier (or using a suitable app on your phone). Once this has been done, the Flexi Season is valid for the remainder of the day without having to be touched in or out again. You then only need to touch in or out as required to pass through ticket barriers.
