I periodically buy Advance tickets to travel from Kings Cross to Leeds or York as It is always more expensive to purchase a fare from the start of my journey at a joint Met Chiltern Line station to the final destination. Normally I use my PAYG oyster to travel via Marylebone to Kings Cross.
Should the Chiltern service be delayed or cancelled is having touched in at the start of my journey enough evidence that I have started my journey and therefore be entitled to travel on the next available train from Kings Cross?
