I have noticed there are some good fares from worcestshire Parkway, when splitting XC fares, but the calling patterns on their long distance services, makes it hard to use return tickets on these services, as one way they stop but on other leg they dont, so have to change services. It seems to me that Cross country, are trying to make passengers use the expensive Cheltenham-Birmingham fares, if want direct journey, or have to change trains if want the cheaper fares.

Am I right in thinking this? Or is it down to pathing of Cross Country services, which means they are un able to call at Worcestshire Parkway, both ways On South West-North West, and South West-North East services etc.

No. The station and it's fares are an addition to what went before and may have created some opportunities which didn't previously exist. The service pattern has not been designed to make them more difficult to use.

The calling patterns are down to pathing constraints. The fact that this makes split ticketing less attractive is just a convenient side effect as far as XC are concerned!
