Split ticket using a season and non season ticket

If you have a season ticket you are allowed to buy a normal ticket to extend your journey beyond the limit of the season ticket and travel on a train that doesn't stop at the station where the tickets "split", so much is clear. My question is, could you use a first class season and extend your journey with a standard class ticket, or vice versa?

There is no restriction on class as far as I know, so as long as you move to Standard at the appropriate point then I can see no issue.

You may wish to consult the Guard/TM whatever, as they may be happy to exercise a Nelson and let you stay beyond your season limit in First for the duration.

Provided you travelled in standard for the duration of the standard class ticket I see no reason why you couldn't do it, the real question is how far you could travel in first class!

It'd certainly be no further than the section of the journey cover by the first class ticket, but if the train doesn't stop at the boundary point, I suspect it may only be as far as the last station the train stops at on that ticket. I haven't seen anything in the FRPP about that scenario though, perhaps an RPI or guard on here knows better?

So if you "extend" an FC season with a standard class ticket and the train does not stop at the boundary, are you supposed to watch out of the window and immediately vacate the first class seat as the train rushes through the boundary station? Or are you supposed to sit in standard class from the previous stopping point?

Or if you had a Travelcard, would you need to know the boundary of the TfL area, between stations
