Hi,
I have a journey from Salford Crescent to Glasgow Central tomorrow with the following itinerary:
0716-0731 northern service from Salford Cres to Bolton
0738 to Glasgow Central with TPE
This was booked as a split ticket advance single for each service.
Due to the fire, the 0738 is only going as far as Carlisle so TPE suggest changing at Preston for Avanti. As taking the 0738 would give a 40 min change at Preston, they’ve informed me that ticket acceptance is in place and I can take a Northern train 20 mins later from Bolton to Preston as ticket acceptance is in place to avoid the long change.
TPE did however say that as my initial ticket is an advance single on a train that is schedule to run, I have to take that first service to Bolton. I wondered if this was correct, given the overall journey the tickets are related to is disrupted?
The journey disruption page says tickets can be used at any point across the next few days an my understanding was that split tickets with an itinerary had the same status as a full through ticket?
I’m happy to pay if it’s true, but does feel a bit strange that my journey is cancelled and I need to then pay more!
Thanks a lot in advance.

Update - have spoken to northern and they have confirmed it is valid.
