Split ticket seat reservation

Making a trip from Derby to Plymouth next month, using the forums website to buy tickets it's offering me split tickets saving me almost £15.

If I select one train departure it offers me four split tickets, does it automatically reserve me one seat for the whole journey? If not can I alter each ticket to keep the same seat for the entire journey?

We are beholden to the rail industry's reservation system which is not particularly good at this.

Yes, you can try and harmonise the seats yourself once the reservations are made by using the Seat Selector, which is available for all reservable TOCs.

It should work unless the train operator has set-up "inventory class" restrictions that mean that the full repertoire of seats is unavailable to some ticket holders.

A SeatFrog upgrade would give you a single seat for the journey across the four tickets.
