Split Ticket and delay Repay query

Until the term ‘journey’ is defined in the NRCOT (not the NRCOC which was referred to in the correspondence from transport focus) then it cannot be for the TOC to define it how they want.

My question is this. If I want to travel from Moorthorpe to South Elmsall this is my journey. I COULD use split tickets here which may make the journey cheaper but I would lose my right to delay repay. But in this case I am FORCED to use split tickets as no through ticket is available. So are we suggesting here that the toc will deny a claim on the split tickets when they were the only option.

I appreciate the Stations used are a poor example as it’s quicker to walk but there are long distance examples too.

In many cases passengers are forced to split tickets. Sometimes there is no through fare, or there’s an Advance on a main line route which doesn’t come with an +CONNECTIONS option to a branch line station. Sometimes the passenger has to buy a Boundary Zone ticket. Sometimes it’s just obviously cheaper.

It’s unsatisfactory that Transport Focus won’t grip this issue.

There is the Money Claim Online (MCOL) process for court claims, though it carries a fee (£25 for a claim of up to £300).

And that fee is lower than the paper filing fee and is ordinarily paid to the winning party as part of the judgement.
