This train today apparently travelled between Llandudno Junction and Llandudno in 3 minutes. Travelling 3mi27ch, that's an average speed of 66.8mph. Is someone fudging the numbers here? I can understand gaining 6 minutes between Tal-y-Cafn and the Junction, due to engineering and performance allowance, but surely the former point is nigh on impossible?

It's a manual report, so definitely a typo.

For whatever reason it looks like systems got it confused with the train in front, which is also shown as arrived at 10:00

Thanks all, I think I got confused between SDR and SMART. Out of curiosity, what's the difference between the reporting types? Is one manual and one done by track circuits in an area without Train Describers?

SDR is manual, SMART is a Network Rail system that uses train describers. You wont get a SMART or TD report in an area without a Train Describer.

Thanks. So what's the difference between say Abergale and Pensarn where it gives you the timing as TD (C5), and when it says TRUST (SMART)?

TD (zz) is using RTTs own data to calculate the actual time. SMART is using Network Rails data to calculate the actual time, typically less accurate, especially on newly resignalled routes. SMART is also whole minutes only.
