What that page attempts to clarify is that it isn't the actual 'swing links' that are long or short, but the safety restraining straps. These are there as a safety feature in case a swing link fails.

I spent a lot of time trying to find a difference between the swing links themselves, and eventually realised, thanks to this page:

that the actual 'swing links' are the same on both bogies... :roll:
