Speed Camera on railway outside Weybridge station

Just on a fast train between Woking and Waterloo and noticed there’s what looks like a traditional yellow road speed camera mounted on the wall of the substation on the country end of Weybridge station facing the down slow track. Anyone know why it’s there and what it’s for? I’m guessing it’s not actually railway related

I’m sure you’re right, I remember there's a location quite near me with a few of them, the St Denys traction supply substation. I just checked as it’s almost visible on Streetview, but they’re clearly aimed within the fenced compound.

I wonder if they've used 'speed camera' housings to make them prominent to would-be trespassers and give them good protection against the weather and vandalism that the more usual security cases don't have?

Cheers everyone. It does actually look like an actual Gatso camera which obviously are speed activated. Maybe it’s set to 1mph so it picks up walking pace of the thieves

The old gatso style camera is out of favour now as they're susceptible to having a tyre hung on the neck and being set alight. So there are probably lots of spare gatso housings floating around now looking for new homes.
