A friend of mine wishes to travel to Nimes via Eurostar/TGV, to take part in an archery tournament. His equipment would be in a locked case, not set up, but obviously capable of being set up. Airlines often refuse to carry archery stuff. Are there any restrictions on carrying this sort of equipment on Eurostar/SNCF? Or where would one find out?

The Eurostar website - Customer Care > Questions & Answers - has got a luggage section with details of what's allowed and what's not, and if that doesn't cover it you can e-mail for more info. They're normally pretty good at getting back to you quickly.

For the TGV services I would have thought the requirements would be similar to Eurostar, possibly less stringent.
