Will the fares show on BRFares as soon as they are released? Idk if that site is automatically updated or done off some spreadsheet periodically, but it is really helpful to see the different tiers

I had a basket of journeys ready, with guide prices prior to the sale, now the forum site gives me errors, no tickets available but best of all - a 100% increase on the previous price (Glasgow to Liverpool was £28.33 now £64! All just 5 hours apart! :|

‘Due to issues with the National Rail reservation system, availability of some ticket types, such as Advances, may be restricted, and some services may be unavailable

Trying an hour later, still the same issues, plus a new one - that I’m supposedly using something called ‘Turnstile’ and I’m now blocked. I tried Cross country’s site and immediately got the tickets I expected and at the RailSale rates. Sorry I couldn’t support the Forum, but there’s clearly some issue that is causing problems.

By 0530, still errors on TrainSplit, so it the mystery continued when ScotRail transferred me to Trip.Com for a booking to Sheffield - and the tickets were priced in US$ complete with RailSale and Railcard discounts as appropriate! Final check of Trainsplit - it now appears to be working and discounts are shown, but I couldn’t purchase from the Forum site despite that being my preferred option.

Avanti has some but discounts not very good. £28.50 Manchester to Euston (a £5 saving from the next cheapest advance!)

No LNER yet as far as I can see

Sale prices aren't necessarily based on the cheapest normal Advance tier, given those will usually have very low availability.

If you select Fares Period "From 13 Jan 26" you can see the prices of the sale fares. But that is a separate thing from availability being released in the reservations system.

this page displays all sale fares if you input just your start station.

One thing I noted was if you select a Return on the Southern App, it's not offering Rail Sale but if I did Singles it did......unless I was doing something wrong......
Did look if I could use it for the commute to work - picked a random midweek day - first one gets me into the office at 1130 and I would need to leave by 1530 or get the 2020 train home

I do need to go to London Waterloo from Havant end of January - so will have a little dig round. I do have a Network Railcard so can put the Mrs on it so not seeing a lot of savings on the 30th Jan / Back 31st Jan

Looks like Southeastern has gone live too, but possibly quota hasn’t been added on some local trains. The fares are published but won’t book onto any train. For example London Bridge to High Brooms will give rail sale tickets but Barnehurst or Sidcup to High Brooms won’t.

There are no Rail Sale day returns for a given route unless the faresetter doesn't offer any Advance tickets. Other than c2c it seems they all do Advance tickets; even Thameslink does nowadays, which means no more Rail Sale day returns from Luton et al to London.

Note LNER excludes travel on Fridays - Sundays before you go wasting your time like me! For some reason LNER also say they're excluding 16 February, but this is a Friday so doesn't need calling out??

I think you are looking at January, 16th February is a Monday.

For the same train, rail sale tickets are showing on RailSmartr but not on the forum's site. Is this a data issue?

Ha, that would be it :) Thanks for working out the problem.

To be fair to LNER, weekends are going to be a horror show during the period with the East Coast upgrades... though it's frustrating that next weekend LNER are using the Hertfood Loop next weekend whilst [diesel] Grand Central sail on as normal. Overall the better seat reservations and customer service with LNER still make it worthwhile, but funny to be paying more for the slower service!

Leaving the UK, there's sales for Eurostar (£35 each way, travel 19 January to 25 March, book by 12 January), European Sleeper's Paris – Berlin route (also book by 12 January, travel 27 March to 2 July, from €30 classic shared / €120 private) and TGV Lyria (book by tomorrow, travel 23 January to 23 March, from CHF 24).

I can't see the ticket on RailSmartr anymore.

I wonder if you got unlucky and someone beat you to it!

Have a Club Avanti 1st class ticket to use by April and thought I'd take my other half to London next month, but Avanti only doing the Rail Sale in standard.

Really good availability Chester to London in standard for £47 return, but £280 for 1st is the best on offer.

Do I use my 1st class and let her sit in standard?!

(and no - Club Avanti doesn't let you book two singles with the reward, which would have solved the issue - only a return).
