While it could just be me, the LNER discount seems to have gone from the Barclaycard and NatWest rewards scheme. I still have it against Amex cards but it might be worth buying gift cards to maximise discount (but minimising cashflow)

I've just checked - same for me too unfortunately. Though the offers are tailored so some people may still have it. I imagine the general rule of thumb is something like once we have used it so many times it'll go for a certain period of time.

I think this is true. I used to live in Northallerton and commute to York off peak. I'd use the LNER app to buy my tickets with Amex and saved a fortune, until I stopped getting the offer when everyone else got it. It was only a few months ago that I started getting the offers again, having moved to Selby two years ago and having done all my commuting since then by bus and only leisure travel by train - almost none of it booked through LNER.

Agreed, it was good when it lasted as I could get double cashback via both Airtime Rewards & via Natwest rewards.

No doubt it will come back in a few months time.

Gone from barclaycard for me too, seems to be fairly recent, since I bought a voucher via the deal only a couple of days ago, which is now showing as pending

I've got the 8% off my first purchase through Virgin Trains Ticketing on my Barclaycard.

Does anyone know if they then send a subsequent offer or is it just a one-off?

I now remember that Uber's 10% is still out there. Horrible interface and they seem to pay when they get round to it, but better than nothing.

I just got an email to say the discount was good through 31 December 2024. It's a shame they seem to have stopped sending tickets to Google Wallet.

My Amex 10% on LNER runs to 2/11/24, so I'll continue with that as it's much easier to book on their webpage, then it will be into the depths of Uber.

Interesting, last time I bought one a few months ago it worked!

I bought one today, but when I tried to redeem it, it kept trying to tell me to set up Uber Money, which was the problem many people previously had.
I went onto the Amazon page and chatted with an advisor who immediately issued me a refund.

I can still use Uber Credit to purchase train tickets today from previous gift card. Does it only apply to new gift card?

None of the past few Great British Rail Sales have let you do this, so I doubt this one will either.

The "early next year" matches up with the timing of the last few of these anyway, so I don't really understand the nothingburger that is this press release other than going "yes we are doing the same as the Conservative government did the last few years too!" without actually saying that.

Maybe time will show it is something more than this, but I doubt it.

Thanks - didn't clock the timing matching up. Good way to save on those days I need to travel before 10:00 I guess. Just not as useful for other journeys.

if I recall correctly, discounts were not previously available on every single train.

Eg on many XC routes. sale tickets were often only available on very early, or very late services. Suppose that's due to their lack of capacity.

With thanks to Hotukdeals.com, I see that, for those on O2 Priority (or Virgin Media) 1,000 codes are being released daily at 9 a.m., daily until 9th November, for the purchase of various 1 year Railcards for £10. A Disabled Persons Railcard and a Senior Railcard are amongst the inclusions. The code, once obtained, needs to be used by 31st January 2025.
