2 passengers on a 2 together railcard, could one buy club 55 at a discount and the other would buy an off peak return, or would they both need to buy the same type of ticket if using a two together railcard?

The answer is in the words "All travellers must be aged 55 or over."
There is no provision for one person aged 55 or over and another aged under 55 to obtain Two Together Railcard discount if they are using different ticket types.

Don't advance fares start from £5 anyway on all city routes?
Looks like they've increased their availability. Often there were less than 10 tickets at that tier for a through journey.

Ah, OK. So basically avoid these dates if you want a seat. Still plenty of £5 fares available on other weekends.
I don't understand why they don't come with seat reservations even though you have to travel on specific trains.
It's so that the % of seats on the train that are reserved does not get too high. If almost all of the seats are reserved, walk-up passengers get very annoyed because they think they can't sit there, even when inevitably a lot of the reservation holders sit elsewhere or do not get on the train at all. It worsens the effects of overcrowding, which are very significant on a 3 coach train. The walk-on fares for the Aberden to Glasgow route are very sensible. I'm quite surprised they have capacity even for a limited number of £5 tickets.
These £5 tickets have created some fairly serious anomalies too. For example, they have been added for Glasgow to Huntly. The preexisting Advance fare remains the only other one available at £27.60. Then you have £41.50 for an Anytime Day Single and £64.20 for an Off-Peak Return. Hard to imagine why you'd buy the Advance at £27.60. Hard to imagine why you wouldn't at £5!
Even more odd are First Class Advances. The only ScotRail one available between Glasgow and Aberdeen is fairly new - £10. That's against a First Anytime Day Single of £86 and a return of £103.80. I would expect to pay a lot more than £10 single for that journey, so if £5 Standard and £10 First were both available, I'm not sure why I would buy Standard.

I've just got back from getting 10 forms printed off at my local library and I hadn't noticed the dates error on the form. I just hope hope the new forms and tokens are similar to last time.
In fact the last 4 tickets I bought from the last offer I was able to buy from the guard on the train and he didn't really question the form. I was even able to pass off a couple of the old Northern Rail tokens without any problems.

They have now acknowledge they have the offer running ( I sent them a link to help them out) and the form is to be updated soon apparently

The form won't even appear for me, in any browser. Just displays blank.
The form is displayed within an iframe. The main page uses https and the form uses http. Modern browsers won't allow http content to be displayed within a https page, so it gets blocked.
If you open the webpage source (e.g. right click then view page source in Firefox), then look for <iframe...., you can get the actual web address for the form.

They should just ditch the requirement for newspaper tokens, similar to the old London Midland Great Escape, fill out the form and take it to your nearest northern area ticket office.
Unless the likes of those newspaper publishers pay for the tokens to feature?
It's probably free advertising for both parties. Northern get people on their trains who wouldn't otherwise know about the offer (as they read about it in the paper). The papers get people buying their paper who wouldn't otherwise buy it.
Same as my local petrol station who "suggest" I should buy a copy of the local paper (60p) to get a token for 3p off every litre of fuel.

Although how many of the vouchers are purchased using tokens from the free "Yorkshire Evening Press" rather than a purchased newspaper.
Depending on how large your fuel tank is, that 3p of every litre for a 60p newspaper can be worth it (although how many of those newspapers are binned without being read?)

Now to see if I can download the form. Last time I looked it was just blank as mentioned by other poster
No , tried the link again https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/jpress and still get blanks. Im using Windows 10. I know Microsoft have done some recent upgrades which might be relevant ? Anyone help ?
