Lucky guys :( I didn't get one!

The Train Line are doing an offer of £5 voucher when you buy some tickets through paypal, although I'm not sure you'll actually get much discount because of booking fees! :D

I think this banner ad from SWT (attached) is very misleading.
You'd expect "ANYWHERE WE TRAVEL*" to mean just that, however the T&Cs exclude the Salisbury - Bristol and Honiton - Exeter lines.

I'm considering using the £15 SWT offer tomorrow, I also have a gold card - am I right in thinking I can upgrade to 1st class for £3? How do I go about doing this - on board the train or beforehand?

If you register for a "Gatwick Voucher Passport" (link), I'm reliably informed that one of the options it gives is a free first-class upgrade on an FCC journey to Gatwick Airport

Just registered for the FCC 1st class upgrade. I'm flying out on 11th October. The voucher gives 11/10/13 as the date of travel but in the small print at the bottom says the voucher ends 30 September 2013.

The voucher is valid for a return journey but the date of travel doesn't reflect this. I know 1st class on FCC's a waste of time but it may give a better chance of getting a seat on my return journey as the trains have always been wedged.

The voucher doesn't look the most convincing tbh. We're taking about FCC here - I can just see the potential for hassle.

Using their website (that didn't work for me in Firefox but did in Chrome), you have to add the upgrade to your 'Passport' then click the yellow 'Email me my Passport' button. Your voucher comes as an email. Note that it is directly in the body of the email, not as an attachment.

I've printed the email to PDF to show you how it looks. I agree it's hardly the most professional rail document around! The boilerplate waffle that is printed on all vouchers through this website says you don't need the voucher anyway, you just show the voucher on your phone when you pay... Does this mean you need to exchange the voucher for a first class excess or supplement at a ticket office before boarding? It's not very clear.

Obviously you'd need to get your own voucher if you wanted to take advantage of the offer rather than using mine

£10 anywhere on Northern Rail deal back on
The Yorshire Post are running the Northern Rail deal again-don't have the full details but you have to collect tokens from 2 papers on sale until 3rd September 2013 for the offer.
will be buying a couple of copies of Monday and Tuesday papers.
Apologies for not much information but heard the information from a friend.

This looks like a good offer so have just bought the Yorkshire Evening Post in York but can't see a voucher. Have I bought it on the wrong day? I can't see which days to buy it on the website.

Thought you could get the Yorkshire (and/or Evening) Post in York.

There used to be a seller outside of the station near to the taxi rank who had the YEP. Sure I've also bought one at the paper shop on Walmgate.

Good to know he is still there. Also IIRC the WHSmiths on Coney Street normally has a couple of copies.

Today's Yorkshire Post has a token, and states that today is the last day the tokens are being printed. So anyone without tokens would need to buy two copies of today's paper. I have posted more details in this post.

Are the vouchers the same as those used when this offer has been run before? I'm out of the country at the moment but have a couple of spare vouchers from the last time this offer was run.

Really annoyed about this, just logged onto my e-mail account and I have an e-mail about the offer but today's the last bloody day. Why don't e-mail when the offer is coming up? Having said that we don't have any Johnstone Press papers in Huddersfield, but we can get the Halifax Courier at certain shops.

The Visitor (price 95 pence) Morecambe's weekly local newspaper on sale every Tuesday and The Lancaster Guardian on sale every Thursday, this week contain token number one with token two to follow next week. We are able to buy the Yorkshire Post here and I have seen our local newspapers on sale in Manchester City Centre in one of the proper Newsagents that has a huge selection of the lesser known papers and magazines.

Could I suggest anyone wanting the tokens for the Northern offer get in touch with a good local Newsagent to see which of the Johnston Press titles could be obtained through them. Thanks to this forum, I saw the posting that the offer was running again and visited a Newsagent close to my workplace where previously I bought the Lancashire Evening Post for the token, but having looked through the 2nd September issue there was no sign or mention of the offer and purely by chance I spotted The Yorkshire Post had the offer printed above the title so I bought it. Unfortunately the Tuesday 3rd Sept issue was sold out but I bought The Visitor newspaper for my second token. If any of the forum members could help by listing which dates any of the participating Johnston Press papers carry the tokens it should give people a better chance to collect what they need. Good luck to you all.
