I'm glad the £10 off offer is back on again on East mids. I live in Walkden so my default option to London would be via wcml but I used East mids quite a few times in the last 2-3 months - I've had a few Sheffield to London trips first class for £7.80 with railcard. Brilliant value especially when you arrive in St. Pancras and can avail on self of the unlimited free hidden wine not one else seems to have. Had 6 seats to myself on all journeys (mainly weekday midday but sometimes saturdays too).

According to the Deals section of the EMT website, this offer wasn't meant to start until 16 Aug.

Does the discount only apply for journeys from Leicester to St Pancras or is it both directions? I assume that an attempt to book another journey e.g. Nottingham to St Pancras will not be discounted at checkout?

It would appear the advertising has started early, I saw it when I was browsing NRE. I can't remember if the advert showed a start date.

The T&Cs state "Unless otherwise specified, the promotional discount is only valid on direct services to/from London St Pancras International with East Midlands Trains." but I couldn't possibly comment ;).

EMT seem to be having problems with their offers. I have now received an email stating 'We are sorry you received a voucher code that did not work for our Sheffield sale ...' and giving me another code valid until 16th August ...

... the thing is, the first code did work and I have the ticket I booked using it in front of me as I type :D

Yes. In this household four family members applied for codes from the same computer: two within ten minutes and then, a few hours later, the other two also within ten minutes. The first pair were issued with the same code. The second pair also got the same code, but it was a different code from the first pair.

I had assumed that the apology, which was sent to only two of the four family members, was an attempt to remedy the issuing of non-unique codes.

Specifying at train does not mean you are obliged to travel on it.

On the next page you will see that you can choose whether to reserve a seat on the chosen services or not, suggesting that it is indeed a flexible ticket.

Thanks, I've never bought tickets via the SWT site. I tend to use the Southern website as it is far more user-friendly

Summer Fever fares can be bought online or from the ticket office and even from the ticket machines (although the first weekend they forgot to download the ticket to them!) They are walk up fares valid on any SWT train no reservations needed. Not valid beyond Honiton either.

The ticket machines at Clapham Junction have stickers on them informing customers of the £15 deal.

Also, weekend first is available, but remember, it's South West Trains.

Just seen the following on money saving website:


East Coast trains are doing a promotion in the Sunday Telegraph to get a £10 no-min spend credit to use at East Coast.

There are 5,000 vouchers available and it's first come, first served.

Both new and existing customers can get it. You must book by Wed 4 Sep, but you can use it for travel up to 12 weeks after that date.

The code is the same for everyone: TELPROM10

and the link is: www.eastcoast.co.uk/telegraphregistration

Just saved you spending £2 on the paper :D

Thanks for that :D I just submitted my registration but it's already 11:30 so I'm doubtful of whether I'll be in the first 5000! Worth a try though :p

Chaps! Just wondering if anybody has heard any more from East Coast about their £10 Telegraph giveaway? I seem to recall seeing that I'd get an email by 23:59 yesterday if I'd been successful but I'm not 100% sure if that was right.

Oh; my apologies - as soon as I sent that I thought I should check my junk mail to see if I'd received anything and miraculously I had... I was one of the lucky ones! Hurrah! Hopefully some of you have got them as well (and if not, check your junk mail...!)
