Special Offer Off-Peak Day Return (thetrainline)

Hello,
Just a quick question about tickets. I've noticed I can buy a Special Offer Off-Peak Day Return for my journey from Liverpool Lime Street to Runcorn tomorrow but I'm uncertain if I can buy this ticket from a ticket office or ticket machine on the day of travel or do I have to book in advance?

The special offer ticket you have found is part of London Midland trains' current promotion offering 50% tickets on their route. These tickets are only available online. You can collect them at the ticket machines at the station.

If you buy it from London Midland's website, rather than the trainline, there will be no booking fee. Go to http://www.londonmidland.com/ to do this. Click on the £2.70 option when the fares come up and you're sorted.

Note you don't need to book on to a particular train, but that this ticket isn't valid prior to 9am if you want to travel early.

The £2.70 fare does indeed show up as a special offer but I am unable to find any information about special offers on the website, the fare itself does not appear in Avantix NFM06.

However you would pay an additional £1 booking fee.

If you went to the station tomorrow then you could by a off peak return for £3.90 (Virgin Trains only)

Ahh that would explain the "Can be booked in advance or purchased on the day of travel" in the Ticket restrictions then.

LM's special offer tickets are only available direct from their own website. You can't get them from Trainline or anywhere else. You can, however, pick them up at any ticket machine that offers collections.
