Special 1740 Leeds-Barrow train on 01/11/13

When I was coming home from work on Friday afternoon, I noticed on the departure monitors a train advertised as "1740 to Barrow-in-Furness" calling at Barrow only, as a special, operated by East Coast.

I did see the train pull out of Leeds, as Northern Belle carriages (so not East Coast).

Does anyone know where the train had come from, and which way it then went to Barrow?

Interesting stuff. I've been hoping that this might become a regular route, even if it's just a few services a day: it would boost the Hellifield line service and it would provide a new connection between South Cumbria and Yorkshire and the East. It would be great if it was something leading on to this.

But there's probably a simple operational reason behind it!

It is a charter operated by Northern belle.

Not a regular passenger service and not something that is even rumoured or desired by councils so don't get your hopes up!
